Taking penalties (1 Viewer)

Would you take a decisive penalty?

  • My pleasure

  • No, I'll let Del Piero take it

Right now I'd tell yuall yes, but if I was being watched by thousands and thousands of people under such pressure I'd probably freeze. I don't have the nerves of steel when it comes to things such as these, and to besides, Del Piero doesn't score an awful lot as it is, he needs to take the penos for his sake.

How about a behind the leg Panenka?

You start your run up like your gong to shoot with your left foot, swing, miss the ball and pland your left leg to the right of the ball, and chip the ball with your right foot behind your left one... Get what I'm talking about? That would be

When I was young, or should I say younger, I used to take all of the penalties that came my way. At school and club level, it didn't matter to me, but I think that's because I had no fear then. Now that I'm old, I mean older, I guess I feel the pressure more. From time to time something just takes over me and I go with the flow and take all the set-pieces, but of late I haven't been my confident self and rather than thinking when I score this we'll win, I think what if I miss?

Really and truly I should take the penalties because my teammates hardly blame me, but it's the crowd that gets to me. I know that I shouldn't really care about what they think because for the most part they can't do any better, but I do.

When I was still in primary school I scored the winning penalty in a shootout and scored the equaliser from the spot in a quarter final. I also scored two in one game for my club team when I was younger, but that isn't me anymore.

I dont mind taking free kicks because it's alot harder to score from them so I don't feel the pressure (in a club match just the other day I scored a free kick and hit the crossbar with another in the same game).

i wouldn't mind taking penalties, but i'd never ask to.if you're designated to take them in a way you're not that at fault if you miss,at least not as much as if you asked to take it.

i'm definitely a FK man though.

I always place it bottom left. That is when the keeper doesn't wait. And since I take all the penalties for my team and have only missed once in 20 kicks or so, I would definitely take it. I'd just tell Del Piero to take a look at the master.

yeah..I'm an egotripper as well. But I remember last time my teammates begged me to take it, because someone else wanted to.

I don't like to play against English. A couple of months ago we played an English team. The leftback was kicking me down all the time and then I scored, so I celebrating by saying "**** you" in his face, which costed me yellow. And then my coach even took me off for safety reasons. Quite ridicolous.

One of my friends had this happen to him a few weeks back: He was playing against some team and the other team won a penalty. The guy who took it put it straight down the middle, and his keeper dived to one side. A bit later on, they won another penalty, and my friend started taunting the other team's forward, saying to his keeper "This guy sucks, he's gonna go straight down the middle again!". The penalty taker turns around, says "watch this", and blasts it into the top left corner
