Taking penalties (1 Viewer)

Would you take a decisive penalty?

  • My pleasure

  • No, I'll let Del Piero take it

Disagree, Italy was very good in that game. But i still think peanlties is wrong, even though it was fun that Italy for the first time won a penalty shootout.
Very good? I think not. They relied on their usually strong defence but if you give away two penalties during regular playing time - you're not defending well. Quite the opposite.

The Dutch simply self-destruct

They were good defensively yes, but they produced nothing, scored no goals and ultimately prayed for their lives that Holland wouldn't score. If Holland had been completely shut out with no chances (like France were last night), I could agree that Italy had a flawless performance. But they didn't, they were in a state of panick several times and they conceded two penalties in regulation.

Yes, you're persisting with "football is more than attacking" and I just said in very clear terms that Italy's defensive performance was far less that perfect, which obviously throws the spotlight on defence not attack.

Anyway, I feel we discussed this game to death 3 years ago.

I think Zidane was the best man to take the penalty, cos he's the only player who wouldn't have gotten stick for missing it. Not to mention he takes fockin excellent penalties

If I were given a penalty, I'd try to be too cool for school and I would do a fast run up then chip it (kinda like Totti is EC00). Thats the sexiest kind of penalty. But those high power shots are pretty sexy too.
