2 man midfield isn't going to work with anything less than Marchisio-Khedira
+1 on that, it will be nervous time with anything less than those two as stoppers...id really love to see a 4-2-3-1 in the CL sometime..
Dybala/pjaca, both can cut in or cross or take on 1 on 1s....big-time pain in the a$$ for any coach and defense to stop them..also some very decent passers in there..

------------el gordo
Pjaca---pjanic--dybala
--------march-khedira
Alex--kong-boner-alves

It's easy to say that our team is now wider and our threat comes from the sides rather than from the middle.

LOL. You can't possibly think that as we only play with only a fullback on each wing. Do you realize that even the teams mostly attacking from the middle also have two mens on each wing. Try to understand the basics of tactic: you can't dominate wings with one player vs 2 opposites players. Basic math really, like 2>1, stuff like that... Modern football needs 2 players on each wings, not 5 defenders like we do. EVERY big team has. Not even in order to play mostly on wings. Just to occupy the field properly. A one-man wing can't be enough efficient in both attack and defense against good teams in CL. And stop pretending that you can win CL by switching to a specific tactic witch you're not used to practice every week. It would be delusional.

This is the truest thing anyone has said about anything..try to make some people understand is tough..3-5-2 leaves less room for error and in CL it means you bring yourself more unnecessary pressure..every big team worth a crap needs to be proficient in a balanced 4231 or 4-4-2 diamond (we have decent players for this)..3-5-2 will NEVER be a go to formation in Europe for any successful team..too much ground is left uncovered in counters..although every system can be useful, but the 3-5-2 has the most potential flaws..gar-beej system..

Mhmm..strong 4231..only missing ingredient is Vaseline cuz we'll get raapd lol cuadrado there in that system...wouldn't even work in FIFA game

    ---------Higuain--------
    -Pjaca---Dybala---Cuad-
    ------Khedira-Pjanic---

Dybala with the free role, some sort of a SS.

    Doesnt look bad tbh.

lemina should be Marchisio replacement until he returns.

hopefully we reinforce well with new tactic and Allegri is master of adapting.
I still very much think this is the best line up in a hybrid 3-5-2 / 4-3-3.
    3 5 2
    sandro-lemina-Pjanic-Khedira-cuadrado
    dybala higuain

    2- 4-3-1-2
    Alves-Bonucci-Chiellini-Sandro
    lemina-Pjanic-Khedira
    pjaca
    dybala higuain

    3- 4 3 3
    Alves-Bonucci-Chiellini-Sandro
    lemina-Pjanic-Khedira
    cuadrado - higuain - dybala

I like the idea of the 4-3-1-2 with pjaca behind dybala and higuain and when marchisio comes back, having him pjanic and khedira. That just seems filled with potential. Idk about pjanic in the middle though, I think he'd do better on the left with marchisio central.

don't forget Lemina looks very promising.he is good enough to start for us.

Lemina is good enough to play for us but not be a huge factor in the Champiojns league yet. Marchisio will need to be back close to his best if we want to do well in the CL. I am very interested to see Pjanic in the Midfield before I judge this midfield unit to much. Pjanic and Marchisio will give much more calm and ability to play out of pressure that the top teams give us.

Potentially, midfield of Khedira, Marchisio and Pjanic is top notch, all three of them are world class. People think we are weaker because Pogba was flashy.

No, we are weaker because Pogba was a guarantee, while Marchisio and Khedira are question marks. If they're fit we should be totally fine but people aren't happy with ifs and buts. Not when you make a statement like we did (that we're after the big ears).

    A guarantee for what?

He was hurt in our run to the CL final and also struggled hard in the first part of the season last year after being given the responsibility. He has the ability but is no more a guarantee than the next guy down. Its just his ceinling was higher. When has he consistantly dominated when thing werent going in our favor? He wasnt like a Ronaldo or Messi who turned games on their own. He could control a mif=dfield when he was on but not a guarantee

I agree, he's been raw, but not a liability when he's played. I would say competent backup/rotational player right now, but I can see him being a full starter in the future if he works hard and gets more consistent. He's definitely the physical presence we could use.

442 could be an interesting option, atletico used it last year with this team:

    Oblak
    Junafran Godin Giminez Luis
    Koke Niguez Gabi Carrasco
    Torres Griezmann

Compare that to our potential 442 (for the present time)

    Buffon
    Alves Bonucci Chiellini Sandro
    Cuadrado Pjanic Khedira Pjaca
    Dybala Higuain

i think our formation blows the atletico team out of the water for every single position exept CB, and RB.
