We should have earned more than 50 million from the sale of both of them.
While I understand what you say and youngsters all over Europe do move for 40-50M from one club to another all the time, a gentle reminder that we sold a dozen of kids for a million or two more than the transfermarkd valuation and got slapped with -15 pts by a court without the required jurisdiction, so maybe that played some role here :)

I mean it's not a false statement to say that it doesn't matter if everyone is doing something, if Juventus is also doing it the club can be singled out and punished for that same thing...

It depends on how you managing and how you negotiating with the parties, remember how Pogba was sold for 100m and if it was Giuntoli, pogba would have been sold for 50m!!
You're sounding like a bad politician here. Just answer the damn questions so we can get to the point.

I do remember pre-covid times. Good times; transfer sums were out of control. Ever seen a team splash 222m again?

Again;
- Did we buy Koop for 52 mil?
- How much were/are Huijsen and Soulé worth ? Because you said they were sold under their 'real market value'.

Read my post again, I believe we did great in the mercato but we could have done better if the selling were on point. I don't get the point of selling promising players and again we pay more for covering those spots.

think again from a different angle

sales affect the books instantly. you sell a homegrown player for 20m = his book value was close to zero, it means instant plusvalenza of 20m

purchases as costs are spread over the length of the contract. you buy any player for 25m on a 5 year contract = 5m/year cost for each of the next 5 years

so if you sell a homegrown for 20m and replace him with a rando for 25m on a 5 year contract = 20m revenue and 5m cost for this season, overall 15m gained in the books

we sold soulé to cook the books

just a thought about his real market value: he pushed to join roma. even if a pl club offered more (and there's no proof of that), it was irrelevant. a transfer has at least 4 parties involved: seller, buyer, player, agent. any deal should satisfy all of them. guy wanted roma, so their offer was his market price, not the one on transfermarkt, or not the one a saudi club would have offered. bte i also think that we undersold him, it's a shame he wasn't open to other clubs

Dude what? Pogba was world class player, top 5 midfielders in the world, when we sold him, nobody would sell him for less than we did.

Huijsen was just a talent, who played just 550minutes in serie a, made many mistakes at Roma and we sold him for 18mil...at the end i say good price. 8.5/10

Soule? That's debatable...he started the season strong, finished not so good and Frosinone was eliminated from the league...we could probably get 5-10mil more, but at the end again pure plusvalenza deal which benefited us to make other deals. 8/10

Chiesa deal...little money, but if the things that were reported are true it's good he's gone. And him posting "i wasn't offered anything" in farewell is bitchy.

Chiesa and Soule are forwards/wingers. Because of that fact alone they should have been sold for more. Not to mention their age wich is also a huge factor.

- Selling Huijsen and Soule under value(ridiculous price, at lower price than the actual value).
I think what you really mean is getting a high percentage sells on fee, for that I agree.

Iling went for 14m plus 3m bonuses
Huijsen went for 15m plus 3m bonuses

It's subjective who is better, for me it's Huijsen he has shown more talent, younger, didn't suck as much people think and maybe we could have got a 2-3 more mil, but that's probably it. Of course if he played for united and was loaned to Tottenham and played like he did, I'm sure a club like Newcastle would have come in with a much higher bid, and that's the price we pay for playing in a serie A.

Says the guy who rated this mercato with 3 lol
Of course. I'm not only looking at buys, but also general picture, management of the Mercato and the squad since the start, sales etc.

You know what 10/10 Mercato was for me?

Buffon, Thuram, Nedved.

Or.

Cannavaro, Emerson, Ibrahimovic.

Those are my expectations bro.

Other fans might have different expectations.

For me it's one Calafiori, one starting RB and one starting LW from a 10/10 mercato. Each deducts 0.5 so 8.5 it is.

Perhaps we gonna fix those parts in winter mercato.

Alhamdu-li-toli.

I'm going to be a contrarian: 5

As far as outgoing players are concerned, it was a complete & utter mess. The Chiesa deal being the obvious highlight.

I don't have any major issues with the players we ended up signing but, apart from Di Gregorio & Cabal, we (massively) overpaid for all of them. Douglas Luiz for €50 million, Koopmeiners possibly/probably costing more than €60 million when all is said & done, a loan fee of up to €10 million for a Portugese youngster, etc.
And then there's Calafiori. Probably the one player where overpaying actually would have made sense considering the squad we have.

Also, unless all/some of the next gen kids really step up, this squad is still quite thin. A few injuries for the wrong people and we're in trouble.

I can't say that, from the outside, it looked as if there was a plan in place. Except for getting rid of a bunch of players / youngsters.
Basically all cost cutting has been short term. Whether or not we're actually any better off in practice remains to be seen.
