Weren’t they saying that if Douglas leaves we’ll sign a midfielder? Why aren’t we even linked to any midfielders at all? We badly need a central midfielder. If Thuram gets injured, our midfield will be a disaster.
yeah that’s what media was saying but they don’t know anything. Realistically, Miretti is probably the replacement, especially since Tudor was playing Luiz behind the striker before he left. There’s also Adzic. Dunno what the plan is with him. McKennie backs up Thuram, Koop backs up Loca. The real question is that right flank. They desperately need to add there.

That's all media rubbish.

If we look at it objectively we started the summer with what 30 players? taking into account those who have returned on loan, we have sold as many as we have brought in including those returning from loan.

I know and I agree with what you say about lack of depth etc... but I wouldn't take what the media are saying about "we sell 1 we bring 1 in" literally.

I think Miretti should mostly be considered as Yildiz’s backup, because we don’t really have a proper backup for Yildiz either . You also can’t fully rely on Miretti’s quality. Either way, I think we need a quality midfielder. If Thuram isn’t available, our midfield will just be Locatelli - Koop - McKennie - Miretti, and that’s a very average midfield.

We been shopping from the wrong North american country ;):p

This 16 year old wonderkid is on a heater lately according twitter scouting rapport. Moves like Iniesta, but can't seem to stop scoring recent week despite that tender age and mainly a playmaker.

Its kind of long term boom opportunities we need to pounce on.

Tho it may be too late. He is already rumoured to Real Madrid :D

He plays in the same place where Kvaratskhelia was.

I think Napoli will take it and sell it for 100

Currently we have 5 midfielders for 2 spots - Locatelli, Thuram, Koopmeiners, McKennie, and Miretti.

We have 3 wingbacks for 3 spots - Joao Mario, Cambiaso, and Kostic (4 if you count Rouhi). 5 if you include Nico who looks to on the way out.

We have 7 defenders for 3 spots: Savona, Kalulu, Gatti, Bremer, Rugani, Kelly & Cabal. (only Kelly & Cabal are lefties).

We have 3 attacking forwards/wingers for 2 spots. Conceicao, Yildiz, and Adzic - 4 if you include Nico who is on his way out.

We have 2 center forwards for 1 spot. David & Vlahovic. I don't count Milik for obvious reasons.

---

So if you believe Nico goes (who can cover 2 spots - wingback and attacking winger on either side), I would argue we need 2 players. A wing back and an attacking forward. Nico is a jack of all trades and master of none. His 3 main strengths are his versatility, work rate, and arial ability. His weaknesses are pretty much everything else.

The 2 big crucial events are Nico and Dusan and our incoming would change dramatically if they stay or go. If they both go, I would expect us to get Muani, Zhegrova and wingback and possibly even a left footed defender given how much we save from having Dusan off the books. If Dusan stays, forget about Muani.

If both stay, I think we may just end up with 1 more signing and that would be Zhegrova and maybe a low cost wing back option. To me this is crucial because only Yildiz and Conceicao are the only players we have who can beat their man in a one on one and that is important especially in games where teams like Parma park the bus. Zhegrova has proven to be capable of doing this.

If Savona is sold, I think they would go for a left footed center back like Beraldo, Balerdi or Kiwior. I don't see us selling Kelly for 3 reasons: 1) Tudor seems to trust him; 2) He is only 1 of 2 left footed center backs where the other is unproven and coming off a big injury, 3) His wage is low and its unlikely we will make much from his sale compared to what was paid.

What was is it you were trying to shut us up with last summer when we were mentioning Huijsen? Please remind me, I kind of forgot.
That we needed the cash. Which we did... Kind of forgot how you danced around that fact 'though besides not counting the bonus and sell-on %...

The Kelly fuck up happened after two ACL injuries, pal. Kelly wouldn't have been here otherwise. I'm here to freshen up your memory every time you want it.

Everyone is doing a great job, but the next guy who comes in always has to "fix the mess" his predecessor left.
Seeing our mercato with 'stability' as a theme, that's obviously very wrong.
