She's awful but a great character. Agreed, the actress did a great job with that role. And of course, she was inspired by the show creator's mother

The series has aged quite a bit (especially first two seasons and it finished up in 2007) but the writing, acting, humour, mood and realism of the show are of the highest quality. It’s the show that started the golden age of TV series IMO.
