Zaniolo is a MUST SIGNING.

Come at me you scared cats. The kid is a rare monstrous talent of technique and physique. There's risk for injury for sure, but can happen to anyone, and plenty of players who had ACL injuries who had fine careers after.

Seeing him now for Roma, it doesn't seem like it effected his explosiveness and physical playstyle.

If roma are foolish enough to consider selling him to us, sign before they regret it. Can play CM, AM, SS and RW. Him with Chiesa, Vlahovic, Dybala would be fun. Be the player we hoped Kulusevski would be.

The last time that we were interested Zaniolo pushed hard for a transfer.

Agresti will talk about it in his video tomorrow. If he’s a serious target we will probably work to commit him to a transfer Locatelli-style. Zaniolo is a Juventino too.

I wish we could just fast forward this season.

Trying to sign a guy with 2 ACL injuries off his back.

We already have another player coming back from a serious ACL injury next summer

This just doesn't sound right

I’m curious as I don’t know many cases but did any player recover to their previous level after an ACL injury?

I’ve recently seen Hector Bellerin’s documentary of his ACL. But he’s currently playing at Real Betis and seems to have regressed. I can’t think of many players tbh

Zaniolo unless he has an amazing second half of the season would not cost more than 40m IMO. Even with all the injuries that is not a huge risk for a talent that could be worth 5 times that amount.

Sure it is a risk, but it's not like we're paying 100m or more.

He's young, star potential, Juventino, Italian, complete player. Would not think twice about it at that price.

For Juve, ADP is probably biggest example.

Nearly all of Roma's players who have had ACL injuries ended up having mediocre careers.

I don't know how people can be oblivious to the fact that Zaniolo hasn't had one but two ACL injuries. Chances are very high that he could end up being a perma-crock.

Falcao and Ibra did it off the tip of my head.

Baggio, Del Piero, Totti all had these injuries and became legends anyway.

I don't think it is worth comparing because they're all different cases and players.

I'm actually much more worried about Chiesa because he's not as strong and suffers a lot in duels. Zaniolo is a tank physically since the injuries, people bounce off of him like Ibrahimović.

As a med student I can tell you that ACL affects players both physically and mentally.

First of all, you are never the same again after such an injury. From a scientific standpoint look at it this way: a person with a healthy, never-injured ACL is at a 100%. A person who suffered an ACL injury has around 60% of healthiness in that knee, regardless of the fact that in physical way they made a full recovery and the knee healed.

Then there is a highly likelihood of the injurry recurring. Especially with players who play in attack, even more so the wingers, who tend to make twists and turns that put extreme pressure on the ACL which leads to an ACL rupture in first place. Then you also take into account bumps and hits that they can pick up from a challenge of another player.

And also, there is the mental aspect. As soon as the knee heals to a certain degree and a player starts a physiotherapy, he can't help but have fears of the injury recurring and therefore a sort of a "mental blockade". Especially in the first couple of days/weeks after getting back on the field. After a few weeks that mental insecurity slowly reduces but it never fully goes away.

So in the end, it really is a HUGE risk taking a player who went through that. Let alone a player who went through it twice and in a really short period of time.

I thought both were in League? Damn must sucked to get the injury in NT.

Was that the game where Locatelli bossed the dutchies?
Being honest, i only remembered it was during an azzurri game so I had to Google when exactly :)

Do you take into consideration that the best players have the absolutely best medical care?

Good point about the mental part but it depends on the individual.

There have been plenty of examples of players coming back after such injuries. Arkadiusz Milik has also torn both of his ACLs and didn't have a relapse ever since.

What bothers me is that no one has mentioned :chin:
