I just presented you the whole top8 in the league and showed than all of them improved in one summer. The league is as good as it's top clubs are, and they improved significantly. Napoli wasn't the only competitive team as there was also Roma at that time that were just as good.

Dybala went from 19 to 8 goals when Higgy arrived, and we lost goalscoring from the midfield as well with Pogba gone. Higgy scored a lot but that didn't come as bonus on top of the rest, but at the expense. Also you don't know how close/far we were from signing or not signing anyone back then, so that's another assumption. We paid 90M for a single player, there is no reason to assume we couldn't have went for a different 'superstar'.

To even bring Higgy (and Dybala for that matter) in the same conversation with Ronaldo is ridiculous. But let's play your game. We won 7 straight before CR, winning the league was never the issue for us and not the reason we got him. It's the 7 out of 7 knock out stage goals in the last 2 years he delivered, something we were wrongfully hoping from Higgy when he arrived. No one thought it was a move to extend domestic dominance when we signed him, and that's not why you splash 90M on a CF

We gave Napoli 90M to improve the midfield and defense. Higuains impact was replaced by Mertens and the other attackers, but they lacked depth and versatility in midfield which they bought with Higgy money. Now, if you say we would get better with selling Ronaldo, you also have to take into account the incoming money (which considering Higgy was waaay overpaid and applying the same for Ronaldo should be 150M minimum) and who we buy with that money. Same for Dybala. Both are hypothetical and we can only guess unless it actually happens.

Alaba could work as LCB in a 3 man backline and LB in a 4 man backline. He's also a capable CM. If there is a chance we should go for him

Not sure I like Demiral on the left. Sandro should be capable of playing as a LCB imo. Conte for example used Azpilicueta as a RCB in his Chelsea team and D'Ambrosio has played quite a lot as a RCB for Inter this season.

As seen yesterday, with a 3 man backline you’re so exposed against good wingers, and if you play defensively you’ll miss a extra player in attack as seen with Inter this year. It’s shaky formation in Europe. I think we have the player for it tho.
