Lol Alves shat on the institution.
When we signed sarree, we threw our moral code out the window. Besides, we were in contact with him iirc, it was only a matter of contract length

Ironically if he was still in barca he would be a starter. I guess fullbacks are hard to replace.
With us as well. He would be a better stop gap solution and this summer we could have looked for a replacement

If we don’t have the money to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, and Pogba is not possible, fair enough.

I would like to see us target good Serie A players like Chiesa, Orsolini, and De Paul instead of collecting freebies from other big clubs like Pokémon cards.

I feel we could make this team second to only Liverpool if we make a possible mercato which I doubt we will...
Pogba and Vidal in for the midfield
As for our attack we need someone who can draw defenders but also have a good finishing skills while being a good team player - ofcourse there are players who I prefer but considering Pogba and Vidal should cost around the 120m Id sell Matuidi and if we can get a good deal we can sell Pjanic as well..
If we cant fund an attacker we can use Higuain but he isnt ideal..
Meunir on a free while selling MDS to PSG
This leaves us with only one position to change - Sarri... Inzaghi Zidane Pep or some other capable coach and the only team stays stronger are already oiled Liverpool

P.S Id take Alves if possible even if he is a scumbag..

As much as I like young talented players - none will give us a complete upgrade and while the future is important, I want our present to be great as well

If we don't have the money to compete with the likes of Real Madrid etc maybe we shouldn't blow a large portion of it on second rate fullbacks, pay exorbitant wages to ageing and undeserving players, and not give 3 year contracts to coaches that were obviously going to be failures that we will have to sack.

We don't have the same budgets as these teams but we need to be far smarter with the budgets we have.

Liverpool don’t have the same money as Real or Barca either (although their revenue is rapidly increasing).

When they bought:

Mane from Southampton
Salah from Roma
Firmino from Hoffenheim
Wijnaldum from Newcastle
Robertson from Hull

How many people thought “wow Liverpool have bought a world class player here”? Nobody.

This is why I hate our transfer strategy, especially when it comes to our midfield. We love taking freebies from other big clubs (Khedira, Can, Ramsey, Rabiot). It’s a terrible strategy.

I would much rather have us buying players like Chiesa, Orsolini, De Paul...

Firmino was a damn good purchase at the time. Quite a lot of us wanted him here when he was best BL player with de Bruyne. Salah was Romas star player when he left and even then when he didnt explode yet i said Roma way undersold. I dont follow EPL but Mane and Robertson were quite impressive finds. Kudos to Klopp and whoever else is in charge on the scouting

But we once had epic transfers like that as well. Barza, Leo, Licht, Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba, Tevez. But one day we decided we should stop with that and instead get average players on inflated fees and wages

Our last good transfer window was the summer of 2015 when we bought Dybala, Sandro, Mandzukic, Cuadrado, and Khedira.

All key players for our success from 2015-2018.

We haven’t had a great transfer window since. Some good transfers here and there (CR7 being the standout, Pjanic also good), but no great windows as a whole.

2015 was the last great one, we made the transition from the 11-15 team to a new one seemlessly, but we struggled to build on it since. 15-16 team once it clicked was unbelievably good, it just needed some refining. 16 summer was solid if we kept Pogba and didnt throw 90M on Higgy, but got a cheaper CF or another winger instead. Marchisio injury also didnt help. But yeah, since then we usually dont do strategically good mercatos but waste our time chasing opportunities and selling anyone that has plusvaleza in him, but we had Max bailing us out with his ability to work with any group you give him. Now we dont have that either anymore

People are talking about Pogba, Tonali, Aouar etc, but we definitely need more on the right side of our formation. Right back and right wing are the things we lack the most. If and only IF City ends up having that ban and there would be a chance to Mahrez on the right, then Hakimi as our RB it would fix alot. I'd definitely sign Tonali + Aouar instead of Pogba tho. Anybody from the current squad beside CR, Dybala, MDL, Chiello, Woj, Benta should be in a position to be sold if necessary.

I'd love Mahrez here. He's underrated imo.
