Umtiti and Bakayoko are both young and established players; they could definitely be interesting options, depending on price.

People laugh at Bakayoko but he’s starting to pick up. If all fails then I’d take him. Haven’t heard of Kovacic in a while. That’ll probably be next weeks news.

Hummel is 30 now, when we only have Bonucci (31), Chiellini (34) and the forever-backup-CB Rugani. He is also slow and a bit of passive style, which is basically what Bonucci and Rugani do, so he is not what we need. I am happy if we can sell Bonucci and get him, but not both of them in our squad. The healthy Umiti or de Ligt is what we need, but I'm not seeing us getting de Ligt, and Umiti's injury is too bad to gamble.

Problem is if we buy Hummels, he will be basically in the starting spot when Chiellini is absent. And the center back pair of Bonucci + Hummels will be a disaster in C1 games, when facing high speed attacking of England clubs. Both of them work only when play alongside a physical impose defender, Bonucci with Chiellini, Hummels with Sokratis, Boateng, Sule

Look at the CBs half the top teams have and the quality of CBs in general

But he might want to remain close to Lega Nord.

It'll be Can doing his CM-CB thing when he plays. Very unlikely we'll switch back to 352 proper.

Can see a rotation between Matuidi, Ramsey and Can for two spots. A proper mezzala in Ramsey for certain games and Can in that role when Allegri defends a 0-0 in first leg.
