I'm pretty disappointed about Schick, I think he can be pretty special. Would be annoying if he went somewhere else and exploded now, however we can't really blame anyone. It's just really unfortunate.

We should have a bit of cash to spend now though.

Busquets would do very good in this team. He would cost us fortune though.

Really disappointed about Schick, also. Was so happy when that news broke, and now... this.

It definitely had the looks of being an amazing piece of business.

Wonder who they'll target for up top now?

Probably no one. Mandzu will alternate between the left and the striker spot.

Problem is Beppe rarely does his good business at the end of a window. Once the time crunch happens, he remains disciplined and usually does something underwhelming, so the closer we get to september, the more nervous I get.
moggi was the opposite...unleashing nukes in the last day of the mercato. Beppe doesnt work like that

Im not a fan of last minute/day signings. What Moggi did was 12-14years ago. Real Madrid was about to sign De Gea last window on the last day and it didnt finalize cause left so late. There are some other examples and also there are other clubs who make last minute panic buys.

Serie a starts 21 August. We should have our main players here by then.

When we signed Hernanes and Lemina couple of years ago, it was reaction to the injury problems both Marchisio and Khedira got as the season started. We needed to do something about it. But hence for that we should target a CM/DM right now and not leave it too late in case Khedira pulls a muscle.

Another thing is if u leave it so late and everyone knows you are chasing a player for X position, they will ask for more money. This reminds also of the Draxler transfer saga. The germans knew we wanted him but kept asking for more and more.

Nah, he will probably end up playing in defense this time as the vice-Bonucci.

I think it's a blessing in disguise. Maybe he won't leave this summer and we can snap him up on his release clause next summer after his problem heals :)beppe:)

Blessing in disguise...leaves us the funds now to really nail down a top CM. No excuses now.

Schick is disappointing but to you cannot blame Juve management for doing this.

As it stands the starting line-up is weaker than last year given the loss of Alves and Bonucci - somewhat compensated by the upgrade that Costa brings. It doesn't look like we are going to see a meaningful upgrade in defence. If we land Bernardeschi and get someone like Matic then perhaps we are in line with last season to slightly better as we would have upgraded midfield, left striker unchanged and seen a downgrade in defence.

I don't get having to weaken one area of the team to strengthen another. Frankly, it's $#@!ing annoying. Top teams don't operate like that :D
In a perfect world we didn't need to get rid of Alves and Bonucci - but you know the club's philosophy...if they want out, you are out.

The risk I see in this transfer market is if this in some way triggers other players to leave such as Sandro for instance. Losing Sandro now would be disastrous.

Fact of the matter is - Alves was the best right back in the world last season, Bonucci arguably the best center back. Hard to improve on that.

Costa is world class but not the best and Matic and Bernardeschi are only bordering on being world class at the moment.

Still lets wait and see what Marotta has up his sleeve.
