You know its funny.

You look at Real Madrid's bench in that final. Asensio, James, Bale, Morata vs Cuadrado. That sais a LOT.

The reason why we looked more comfortable in Europe (final aside) this year was because we had more of an offensive OUTLET. It meant we didn't need to dominate midfield and be overly reliant on defence and ALVES added a lot of experience and winning mentality and belief which I think cannot be underestimated.

We need more of the same. Defence doesn't need to be touched - only a replacement for Asamoah maybe and we need to investigate long term replacement for Buffon after next season. We need an attacker that scares the opposition like Ronaldo, Messi, Robben, etc can do. We need to find those pacey scary players. Morata had that for us to an extent at times.

I think he's really overrated around here. Sure, he's a decent player and a useful guy to have... as a back-up. I'd never consider him to be our target for starting XI while spending big on him makes no sense whatsoever.

Yes, we are.
Maybe hes not good enough to be a starter right now, but the potential is clearly there imo. Physicality, quality and mentality, hes got it all

Seems we are selling Asamoah to West Ham :nico:
Some good news that is. Source?

Morata is no where near those you mentioned

Out my opinion: Asamoah, Lemina, Sturaro, Rincon, Licht, Khedira

We can argue about what went wrong all year long but I think we can all agree whoever we buy they have to be skilled big match players. Spending 90m on Higuain wasn't the best of moves.

If there's one thing I learned is that the individual most often than not overshadows the collective. At least from the mid all the way to the attack. It's the players who know how to position themselves and how to finish with perfection, the ones who can see 3 moves ahead and has the talent to pass the ball exactly where it's meant to go. The ones who can get past 2 players and open up space to a killer attack.

Atlético Madrid is just like us, great collective, lacking the real decisive players. Where did it get them?

IMO from now on if we're to spend big on someone, it has to be someone CL proven.

Rincon will be staying. We only got him in January, and would have used him more if we didn't switch to a 2 man midfield. Besides, can't imagine who would want him that could actually afford him.

And we just gave Sturaro a long extension too... sigh

With Pogba Money we could have bought two strong wingers and let Dybala or Mandzukic deal with the ST position

Instead we bought choker for 90mil and 7.5m wages, choker who will have 33 by the and of contract and will be done in 1-2 years time, with no resell value, would be happy if we get 10-15 mil for him in 1-2 years time and actually find someone who will give those wages to that mofo

that's harsh but that's the gist of the story.
Even tough he scored 32 times his CL run was poor for the money invested

Easy to criticize the Higuain transfer - yes he chocked - but so did Dybala in that final.
Dybala is 23 years old and cost 40 millions and have big resell value anyways, choker doesnt have, cost 90 mill and is 29 years old, big difference my brother

Its easy to score against Crotone and Salernitana and Carpi, we didnt need him for scoring against them we needed him for scoring in CL finals

Funny thing about strikers is - who consistently delivers in Europe? Ronaldo? YES. Messi? YES although some will say he is not a big game player too at times. Who else though. Not many. Not many always rise to the occasion. Ok perhaps Ibra, Robben, Neymar, Suarez - not always? Not easy to find guys who consistently deliver. That is why they are superstars.

Players like Sanchez, Dzeko, Aguero, Hazard etc - I could easily see them flop too.

I take your point - I am just saying that its not easy to find those players who always rise to the occasion when it counts. There are very few to choose from.

It's also easy to play 2 Midfielders against those teams as well.

I would be more than happy if he roses to occasion sometimes, but thing is he rises never

couple of issues.... who is Higuain's back up off the bench? What about Dybala? When they were struggling vs Real we had no fall back to go to to change things up. I think losing Morata was a huge factor, especially in games like this. He comes in and changes the pace of the game and scores big goals, something Higuain does not. We really need to reinforce our bench, and get some box to box mid fielders who run their ass off.... Real'm midfield ran over Sammy and Pjanic, that's where the game was lost. Can we buy Vidal back? he would have been perfect on Saturday :sergio:

Thats what I am saying, we think that they are good enough cause there is no real challenge for us jn Serie A, when we face someone like Madrid we can clearly see what we have at our disposal and what are our weak points, lets be just honest to ourselves, i love this club like all of you, and this hurts even two days later

I think that is partially a victim of Allegri's change of system.

He build the squad around a front 2 - Dybala-Higuain. Back up was Pjaca/Cuadrado-Mandzukic

Then he played with 4 attackers essentially and used Alves as one of them. Pjaca injured meant you only had Cuadrado and Allegri was never ready to use Kean.

So yes, new system means more attackers in the next transfer window, clearly.
