Allegri's team always has a player that can control long balls with ease. Ibra at Milan, Pogba, and later, Madzukic at Juve. Both SMS and Vlahovic can do that. With SMS we add more playmaker, creativity, and killer pass. With Vlahovic we don't have to worry about the forward line for many years, either would be great IMO.

I tend to agree here, we do go for the generic mid far too often. Witsel is more solid and astute than Bentancur and Rabiot though. He’s a hark back to the nothing special but guaranteed consistency of Matuidi.

Witsel has 6-8 years of experience on our two mids. Confident that in that time our guys will show the same kind of reliability as Witsel. Still, its disappointing to go for a 3rd player of the same profile who is also 32 and rejected us in the past.

Locatelli isn't even that dissimilar to this profile, more attacking, but still an all-rounder CM.

Yeah, I really despise that he chose to go to China at what should have been his peak. Not even the fact that it was over us even, just that he took a payday in a Sunday league over top flight. It’s despicable.

Agreed, Loca is a step up but he still fits the mood of our all-rounder fetish. We need either a goalscorer, a stopper or a tactical pass master.
