The point is that it is like going to West Virginia Tech, and saying that you go to WVU.

That's what I am saying.
Its all part of the same University. Penn State Mont Alto, Penn State Altoona, Penn State Eire......all places that are substations to the main campus. After two years, the people who are accepted to one of the colleges at the main campus (like myself) move there and finish their education. Sadly to say the people who are not accepted to one of the colleges up at the main do not get to go there. What a shame.

Very interesting stuff Erik, and what a brilliant creation they have made. What is astonishing is the size of the delta system; its almost like the whole country of Holland is fortified from the surrounding water. That certainly is one of the greatest engineering projects ever accomplished, and I can see some places here in the US have such protection in the future, especially since the climate seems to be changing dramatically. If I was the lead engineer of the project I would have probably opted to build dams through the barrier islands of the country, all the way North of Groningen. That would have been more expensive, however, it might be more efficient, protecting more of the country from erosion.
Yes some aspects puzzle me too. I believe they didn't do that because the south west is far more vulnerable because there's also a river delta down there. In other words; they had to device dams who wouldn't hamper the rivers flowing out, but who could stop the sea from coming in :undecide: Gotta hand it to them; they solved the query.

I like the setup West of Rotterdam and Breda though.
That's ingenious. Also where I live so you can imagine how many museums and field trips on the same subject I've had at primary school :D

It's basically the one thing you can be proud of as a Dutchman. Well, that and Amstedam whores :D

Well, you could be proud of other things to, such as the football players you have made. Cruyff, Van Basten, the De Boer brothers....

What is the population like north of Groningen? Does that area not get affected that much?

The islands you mean? I think all the islands up north combined have a population number of about ... 100.000 or something.

Them people all have boats anyway :D

Groningen itself is one of the larger cities though (it's also a region; the capital city of which has the same name. Very confusing), with a population number around 900.000

I think the world is coming to an end. It's the signs that's in the Bible. (I am serious about this)

You know what; if the world DOES come to an end I hope I die together with a Muslim friend and when we get up to the gates of heaven (or whichever version) I hope we find Buddha or Ganesha or someone sitting there.

    That would kinda rule :D

The city is Leeuwarden. It's up north, capital city of the province of Friesland.
Go here: http://www.footballnl.com/holland/holland.htm and click on Friesland.

Why? Don't tell me you're thinking of supporting that drama show :D
