cheers erik, quality stuff, from the the pictures they look like some seriously imprssive engineering. My "home" blackpool is investing £10m per kiloketre for a new sea defences....could possibly be something similar, jus not to the large scale.

Very interesting stuff Erik, and what a brilliant creation they have made. What is astonishing is the size of the delta system; its almost like the whole country of Holland is fortified from the surrounding water. That certainly is one of the greatest engineering projects ever accomplished, and I can see some places here in the US have such protection in the future, especially since the climate seems to be changing dramatically. If I was the lead engineer of the project I would have probably opted to build dams through the barrier islands of the country, all the way North of Groningen. That would have been more expensive, however, it might be more efficient, protecting more of the country from erosion. I like the setup West of Rotterdam and Breda though.

Burke, go pack in a lip, do your two minutes worth of homework/studying, and let the more intelligent people handle this sort of discussion.

Wrong. Its for people who didn't have the SAT's to get into University Park. If you actually cared about your grades in HS you would know that I actually got honors all the way through. Does not really matter anyway, I will graduate from the main campus with a very nice diploma.

I won't even get into where you attend.

1140.

What are you talking about, I go to one of the University Campuses?

And I think we have gone far enough with this discussion. It doesn't really matter where you go, its how much work you put into your education. Okay maybe the place you graduate from is important too.

WHY PENN STATE AND NOT UPENN?
UPenn is right up there with the likes of Harvard and Yale, and has the best Business school in the world. They do not take anybody who has below a 1450 on their SAT's. One of the hardest schools in the world to get into. Penn State is one of the best Public schools in the country, but it's not at the level of UPenn.

Now, on with the mesoscale convective systems.

Okay, fine. I just was not smart enough to get into UPenn. Is that what you are looking for?

And I concur, as stated above.
