i dont like witsel, because belgian media tend to overrate him, while standard allways was carried by other players.

fellainni first and defour later were the real heroe's

also, i will never remember how he broke wasyl's leg. i'm far from an anderlecht supporter, but that was just horrible

I am an Anderlecht fan and indeed, the tackle will never be forgotten, but you can't deny the talent and skill from Witsel.
His wrok rate, his technique, his scoring potential, he is just a very complete player.
I agree he can't carry the team on hiw own, but I am sure Standard would have the same problems they had this season during Defour's injury if it would be the other way round.

That's the first thing what comes to mind when I think of Witsel.. horrible tackle indeed.
True, it probably will be so the rest of his career until he scores the winning goal for his club or for his nation in a big tournament.
(If that ever happens of course)

any solid links with him showing up yet...quotes from agents for example???
None whatsoever. Only solid link for Defour so far seems to one of the Moskou teams (either Spartak or Dinamo, forgot which one exactly).

And, right now, Witsel is miles ahead of Defour if you ask me.

i cannot agree with that.

Defour can carry a team, unlike witsel can, and despite his age he is like the captain since 3 years ?

when defour is abscent, you see it, when witsel is abscent, they are just a bit less creative

Boh, up until a year ago, I also would have said Defour was the better of the 2. But as much as I used to dislike Witsel (not necessarily how he plays but his behaviour), I have to admit that he has made so much progress it's unreal. I wonder if the infamous tackle has anything to do with that.
Defour on the other hand, is still the exact same player he was 2 or 3 years ago. The lack of real progress is somewhat worrying, but I'm sure that if he can stay fit for a while, he'll turn out quite good.

Then again, why am I arguing with you? I saw you posting that Defour would be 5 times better for us than Inler. :p

The difference is that Standard has more creative players that can cover for Witsel. Berrier, Carcela to name two.
If Defour is injured, they have no decent backup so yes, they feel it more because the lack of other good options.

witsel was crying after that tackle, and feeled really bad. but that was horrible . still he is tha bomb and i prefer him over defour. maybe thats because i am genkenaar and he betrayed us by leaving genk for standard while he could have joined ajax. and not ower rivals. apart from that he is a very good hard working player, and a nice guy . at world cup 2006 he was supportering for italia in genk centrum. i had a nice talk with him , and i was suprised how friendly he was and he had no problem to talk with all his fans
(2weeks later enemys lol) . but still witsel at juve would be cool , and kevin de bruine at juve would be tha bomb ,he is jonger and better than defour and witsel

and this is the same lad who ferguson was very interested in, before he got injured, and then rang him during his recovery to wish him well and remind him that he hasn't been forgotten???
