his defensive work was top class with 6 tackles. he needs to work A LOT on his passing, though. he reminds me of felipe melo: good destroyer, cannot create, pass or go forward. sturaro should not try to create, just pass the ball to hernanes, bonucci, pogba or whoever is closer to him.
Melo wasn't a creative force but he could pass. Sissoko would be a better comparison.

Guy had a bad start but I guess it comes with experience, he needed to work better on his decision making and passing. A few times he could pass the ball better and there was one counter attack where he didn't release the ball to Cuadrado and the attack went sour. Improved immensely in the second half but still needs to work on his passing and decision making.

I think he needs to refine his dribbling. Too often he's caught surprised when looking to make a pass simply because he hasn't full control of the ball. A player like Pirlo could hold the ball to his feet while looking for teammates and rarely got dispossessed because he was able to pass at the right moment. Suraro is no Pirlo but he must improve his ball control and make the simple passes. Yesterday he played as an AM and that didn't leave him much time on the ball either. When we attacked we played a somewhat 4132.

Morata Mandzukic
Pogba Sturaro Cuadrado
Hernanes
Evra Chiellini Bonucci Licht
Buffon

Clearly he's no AM, but the guy has incredible stamina and that's great for Allegri's disciplined tactics when defending..

Poor 1st half, monstrous 2nd half.

People must realize that Hernanes isn't competent to defend. Sturaro covered ground for both of them, his tackles were fundamental and he closed that side. His stamina and agility are very impressive.

He needs to improve on the ball, but actually I believe it will happen with time. I feel he has the instruments for it, he can pass and shoot well.

Great personality. Was shit in the first half, great in the second.

I prefer to have him as a typical DM instead of Hernanes, Hernanes should be a regular CM who will simply fill in and not fuck it up. Far and away from a difference maker, rotation player.

He reminds me of Gattuso, horrible on the ball but brilliant in his pressing and winning tackles.
He Is NOT at all like him, nor has he shown a single inkling of being over the norm good at tackling or pressing to stand out in it, let alone a brilliant mad dog like Rino was.

A good 2nd half where he was fired up and tackled more doesn't mean this is usually the intensity he plays with. He usually too often has been a unassuming presence in midfield, barely makes himself felt and been too much of a passenger.

This guy is a Nocerino level player so far , improving in one half doesn't change everything.
