Most people here don't realize it, but if you didn't grow up in the Juventus culture you probably picked them because they're good.

Red loves Aberdeen because he's from Aberdeen. He was born it, lives it, eats it, breathes it and will probably die with a jersey under his suit.

Andy is a huge Baggio fan from the '94 World Cup, if Baggio had sucked or played for Siena, Andy might not be a Juve fan today.

For me, I loved Mikey Owen in '98. I was 14 and looked up to the guy as he was like 18. Liverpool was on TV all the time (well more than other teams, FSW baby!). If it weren't for Owen and performance I'd probably be a Fulham or Aston Villa fan.

I'm sure most people in the forum have similar stories. They picked Juve because they play a style they like, have a storied history, were damn good when they first began to watch them... in short glory. No one wants to cheer for a team that plays shit football, is always in trouble of relegation, or just plain sticks unless they have something invested in it... like their lives.

The truth is. We're all hunting glory, just some more than others.

True, there was some sort of connection when I first watch them in the Champions League one year. Strange feeling. On the other hand I hardly had shit teams in my home City. United and City. Just I felt more at ease watching foreign football. Away from arguments and such that happen in work, home etc.

Juve was the first European club team I remember watching as a kid, along with Real Madrid. Never was a fan of Real even when I didn't know much about them. Juventus had a cooler name and group of players.

Probably some little thing that you can't really explained. But if Juve had been atrociously bad or not even in the CL, you might be a City fan today.

I thought you said Baggio was the reason you started watching Juve?
It's how I remembered the name Juventus, I think. Back then I couldn't watch Juve much anyway because nobody showed the Italian league until like 1999. That's when I could get DC 56, which had RAI programming.
