Probably some little thing that you can't really explained. But if Juve had been atrociously bad or not even in the CL, you might be a City fan today.
Again correct. At times living in England makes me glad I support foreign leagues. Not being able to watch them week in week out live is a shame but if your able to make it once a season. It becomes a special occasion. Just cannot wait for January now.

Red loves Aberdeen because he's from Aberdeen. He was born it, lives it, eats it, breathes it and will probably die with a jersey under his suit.
I'm not big on wearing the kit. :p

I think there is a cut off of about 16 for wearing a jersey. After that it starts to look a bit sad.

You can add to that list that that almost everyone in my family is also an Aberdeen fan.

Even my liking Juve is Aberdeen related. It was watching Juve demolish Rangers around '96 that first drew my attention to them.

I think that's a big part of why I like Liverpool. For me Saturday mornings when Fox Sports World covered the occasional Liverpool match were golden. They were good to pump me up before my own matches.

As for January I'm eager for it to come, if just to see what the future hold for my club.

January is a fantastic month, 2 weeks off and 4 days in Turin to watch Juve-Roma. Cannot get better.

One thing I agree with Ian on is the elitist bullshit that some members had going on here. A password protected thread only for a selected few FFS? It doesn't get "classier" than that. I'm glad that's over with :pint:

You have no idea what you are talking about, and if you don't know the history, then shut up. At the time that Ian had his "moment of clarity", the Nick against the World thread was open to everyone. Nobody except for about 10-15 people decided to stay in there after a while and talk amongst themselves. What happened was, we all got along so well (Pado, Myself,Vinman,Andy,Burke,Respaul,Emma,Fabiana,Claire, Nick..........) that the thread would be the only place that we decided to go to. We didn't shut anybody out.

We just never went to any other threads, as if there is some unwritten rule that members of the forum HAVE to travel from thread to thread.

And I don't even know what the fucking password is for that thread anymore. I forgot it.

I thought I made it clear that I saw the idea elitist, not you guys.
Of fuckin course you don't have to be in every thread lol, what am I, a communist?

Again, who gives a shit... the past - it's like politics, religion and sex - why talk about it? :D

It's not that that makes me a proper fan.

What makes me a proper fan is the fact that I support my local team, go to as many games as I can and don't give up on them just because I don't give up on them because of minor details like the team being rubbish or not liking the way the club is run.
Fair point. But to me, the way the club is run is not a minor detail. In the long run, it's the only thing that counts.

Anyway, I see that you have Rangers among your favoured teams. That tells me all I need to know about you and you won't be hearing from me again.
Well, I get that from my father, so I guess that's glory hunting too. but, personally, I never thought that ignoring and excluding fans of other teams accomplished anything...

You went from supporting Juventus to supporting Barcelona and loving the whole Catalunya thing? Since 2006? Wow, you a huuuuuge Barca fan. Go boy.
Think before posting please. I've been involved in advocating for political rights for minorities since I was old enough to understand the concept. While attending secondary school in Australia I was heavily involved in lobbying the government to officially apologize for their past treatment of aboriginal peoples. I've been involved in numerous political movements including the movement for catalunyan independence. My support for Barcelona FC is only incidental to my support for catalunyan political independence. I also support Basque, Kosovan, and Quebecois independence.

Man, I don't get this whole gloryhunter talk. Nothing wrong with recognizing quality and sticking with it. All Shakespeare fans are gloryhunters?

Now if you don't do the underlined part, then yes, you are a true gloryhunter *cough* Ian *cough* :seven:
From reading the posts of other members concerning their call to true fanhood I believe I have stumbled on the essential misunderstanding that has led many to call me names and insult me.

I have no home country, I have no home town, and I never supported a football club until I was almost 30. From the time I was born until I turned 18, I lived and learned in 8 different countries on 3 different continents. I left Europe when I was 7 and did not return until I was nineteen. In Australia, where I attended secondary school, there was almost no coverage of European football. When I moved back to Europe, I was a professional footballer and did not follow the sport as a fan.

So, I guess I have a different perspective on things. To me, following football is an intensely personal thing. I do it almost exclusively for my own personal enjoyment. So, I guess I'm not a fan at all.
