Madrid Keep Tabs On Giovani Contract Situation

Spanish sports daily As claims that Real Madrid are tracking Giovani dos Santos with interest, the Mexican wunderkind's contract extension negotiations still underway.
As things stand, Giovani, still only 18 years old, could leave the Nou Camp club at the end of the season for a 20 million euro fee. Should his past international appearances be anything to go buy, such a figure could prove a bargain in future.
For now, though, Giovani is involved in first team action at Barcelona, with numerous members of the club hierarchy determined to tie him down to a longer contract with a more restrictive release clause, perhaps in the 100 million region.
Such approaches to the player from the Nou Camp representatives have as yet been unsuccessful, with some club figures now open to the idea of cashing in on the young talent, at least according to As.
Still, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea are all monitoring the situation closely; while Giovani is happy at Barcelona and has previously expressed his reluctance to leave, real first team competition at the Nou Camp could spur a move onward.
Admittedly, this seems unlikely. As recently as one week ago, Giovani declared, "I have seen that several English teams are interested in me, but I want to stay at Barcelona and I am already in negotiations for signing my new contract."
Bojan Krkic, meanwhile, is seen as vital to future blaugrana sides and, what's more, the player himself would almost certainly reject a move away. Perhaps, then, both prodigies could remain in Catalunya for years to come.
