Ronaldinho denies Chelsea link

Ronaldinho has denied speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea, saying he wants to stay at Barcelona.

The Brazil star has been criticised for the past year both for his life on and off the pitch, with accusations of unprofessional behaviour leading many to claim that his recent omission from the Barcelona first team was not injury-related.

This has led to a renewal of links to Chelsea and Milan but the former Gremio and PSG star insists that he will not leave.

"Not Chelsea or Milan," he told El Mundo. "I want to stay at Barcelona - that is my wish; that is the wish of Ronaldinho."

A two-time World Player of the Year award winner, Ronaldinho was considered Barca's key figure in their ascension under Frank Rijkaard, but has faded slightly since returning from a difficult World Cup in 2006. Lionel Messi has emerged as Barca's figurehead, with new signing Thierry Henry expected to grow into a senior role at the club.

But the player - whose brother and agent has often fuelled fire to any rumours by refusing to deny a potential exit - is keen to show the Barca fans his commitment to the Camp Nou.

"[The rumours of an exit] have bothered me because I have been here for five seasons now and I have always been in the same position and behaved in a similar manner," he continued.

"Yes, it bothered me, but that is normal - life isn't always wonderful.

"I am happy because my life is centred on my work and I will give my answers on the field. It is there where I will respond."

Barca are just unstoppable at the moment, arent they?Their passing game is second to none..and the amount of creativity they have in midfield is sick..I dont even want to imagine what they'll be like if Henry and Ronaldinho were in their real form..

PS:Messi is the most talented player i've seen since Zidane

Schuster: The Result Flattered Recreativo

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster seemed pleased enough with his side's win over Recreativo, but feels that they might have scored more. Additionally, he called his defence one of Europe's best...

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster told Marca that his Real Madrid side might have won by an even greater margin against Recreativo on Sunday.

"To me, 2-0 seems a minimum," he shrugged.

"Mainly, this is because we struggled to score. We had other chances at the end of the first and second halves.

"But I'm happy with the 2-0."

The German boss was expected to ring the changes after the 2-2 draw at Lazio midweek but, instead, fielded a largely recognisable lineup.

"The team needed something else, something introspective," he remarked. "But in 24 hours it's possible to change one's mind."

Marcelo came in at left-back once again, the youngster winning praise from his manager.

"Marcelo's working very well and, little by little, he's improving as a fullback," claimed Schuster.

"He's still learning - he's very young. But I'm glad to give him the opportunity because he's taking advantage of it. He wants to succeed and he must work at it. That's what he's doing."

Schuster looked ahead, adding, "I believe that we're getting there, more or less. We still have some way to go.

"But I dare say that our defence is one of Europe's best. It's the forwards that worry me. But little by little, we'll progress."

Finally, the former Barcleona man allowed himself a little bit of speculation regarding Raul's chances of lining up for Spain, following David Villa's injury.

"It's not a question of whether or not he must go; we all know that he could go," said Schuster.

"But I think that it will go to someone whose name begins with 'T'..."

fantastic first half by barca , i dont know why the pace dropped in the second half .
ronnie : i dont think that he was exceptional , he was average , the best thing was the one-two with messi for the second goal
henry : i dont know when he will score in campnou
messi : i dont know what to say , like they said he is a phenomena , barca rely on him to score and for creating chances now instead of ronnie last season.
finaly we ended the curse of not winning against atletico in campnou, forza barca

Madrid Keep Tabs On Giovani Contract Situation

Spanish sports daily As reports that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Barcelona prodigy Giovani dos Santos, whose contract renewal talks seem to have stalled...

Spanish sports daily As claims that Real Madrid are tracking Giovani dos Santos with interest, the Mexican wunderkind's contract extension negotiations still underway.

As things stand, Giovani, still only 18 years old, could leave the Nou Camp club at the end of the season for a 20 million euro fee. Should his past international appearances be anything to go buy, such a figure could prove a bargain in future.

For now, though, Giovani is involved in first team action at Barcelona, with numerous members of the club hierarchy determined to tie him down to a longer contract with a more restrictive release clause, perhaps in the 100 million region.

Such approaches to the player from the Nou Camp representatives have as yet been unsuccessful, with some club figures now open to the idea of cashing in on the young talent, at least according to As.

Still, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea are all monitoring the situation closely; while Giovani is happy at Barcelona and has previously expressed his reluctance to leave, real first team competition at the Nou Camp could spur a move onward.

Admittedly, this seems unlikely. As recently as one week ago, Giovani declared, "I have seen that several English teams are interested in me, but I want to stay at Barcelona and I am already in negotiations for signing my new contract."

Bojan Krkic, meanwhile, is seen as vital to future blaugrana sides and, what's more, the player himself would almost certainly reject a move away. Perhaps, then, both prodigies could remain in Catalunya for years to come.
