Villa: Money Is Not My Priority

David Villa has reiterated that he does not want to leave Valencia because he is ont motivated by money as Real Madrid were again linked with a move for his services.

The Spanish press reported that Los Merengues are considering a bid next summer, but Villa revealed that he has known about several enticing offers and turned a blind eye to them before.

"I am not thinking about going anywhere else," he said.

"Every year I lose money because I know that there are clubs wanting me that would pay me more, but that does not interest me as money is not my priority.

"Winning titles with Valencia and playing at my best is my priority and also enjoying being with my team-mates, which I do here."

Villa also believes that a strong performance against Real Madrid in ten days will see Valencia win over their demanding fans who have jeered the team in recent home games.

Despite the pressure on the side, Villa relishes playing at home and thinks that the criticism does not affect coach Quique Sánchez Flores, despite the crowd calling for him to go.

"The game against Madrid is the perfect occasion to win back the fans in Mestalla," he continued.

"We always want to play at home in Mestalla because we always win more games there than we do away.

"The coach has his way of doing things and we support him, but I think any coach would prefer that the whistles be aimed at himself before his team.

"It is great that we are playing in three major competitions, but I am not satisfied because Valencia has one of the four best squads in the league."

What I wanted to say those mega-transfers are happening less frequently then they did 5,6 years ago. If you look at it Shevchenko was the only mega-deal that happened in the last 2 years, whereas around the year 2000 a whole bunch of those mega-deals happened; from Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo to Vieri, Buffon, Crespo, Veron, etc. All of them for around 50mil €.

Players cost more on paper nowadays but less and less clubs are willing to pay those huge amounts of money for star players than they did before.

Vlatko,you are right at some point.Yes last mega deals happened few years ago but it will begin sooner or later but i think it will start at the end of the season.Ronaldinho will go(Milan?) its gonna be like min 80 milion euros,Villa will leave(Real offered 60?)Inter is still chasing Messi dont know if thats gonna happen but it would be also like 70 milions.Fabregas?He`ll not stay in Arsenal for a long time i guess(but who knows),that transfer would be 50+ probably.Kids are expencive also now like Dos Santos,Bojan,...Jovietic(7 milion already?Who would say kids from Balkan nowadays are reaching that limit? )

I don't know, I don't think those transfers you listed are gonna happen that way, they're just speculation, and even if they do, I doubt those figures are gonna be that high. Perhaps a swap + cash deal here and there but not like before. We'll see, but you're right about the kids, they're really beginning to be expensive nowadays.

Sheva's deal is the only "Zidanesque" deal that happened recently and it was around 45mil €. 20,30mil € is still a lot, always was, but it's not that record breaking figure.
