Bielsa would be horrible for Barca imo. He'd overwork the team way too much, is much more about intensity instead of technique.

don't forget barca has a very full calendar. his style works great for NTs and teams that don't have europe as a priority.

I can't remember if Hiddink ever coached a really big team?
I have my reservations.
Hiddink hasnt done fvck all in last decade except half a season of good coaching with Chelsea. Been a journeyman mercenary acheiving little to nothing. His niche been random NTs and brief club stints. His heyday as top club coach is like 15 years ago.

that and barcelona is full of stars who became big with tiki taki

i'd want to see them run their face off, cause a new trainer.

pretty sure they wont. and he would probably move messi to the wing and demand a new striker (as it should) but messi would revolt and he'd get fired

I said he is risky for reason, but Bielsa and Barca's style is closer then you think, he isnt Peps idol for no reason (a reason he may be unlikely, I dont think Rosell will appoint any coach who is chummy with Pep, or for that matter Cruyff/Laporta).

One of the favourites for the job is Gerardo Martino, Newells (and Paraguays) successful title winning coach, who is also a Bielsa protegé more or less.

Martino is the new Barca coach. They've got a great coach in him... fuck they'll be so strong this coming season, Real won't even get close to em.
lol and why? he never managed a team in europe, you act like he has won the CL 5 times as a coach... football in south america is different to european football though

Good luck to him, big task to get as your first European job, everything I read about him has been very positive, footballing wise it should be good match, but it will be interesting to follow how he will handle big stars for the first time (though most of their squad are collective minded bunch of players).

Barca need Bielsa, someone who brings some risk, energy and innovation to the table. But they are prolly go with an unspiring choice like Lucho.
I don't understand how Bielsa went wrong at Bilbao. He's a coach that know how to find new young players.

I once saw a documentary about him and his system to find new players, and how he did camps where he watched a lot of kids playing football and choose a few to bring them to the team, and those became great and made the team win somthing or idk.

Not to mention what he did here in Mexico with Atlas finding a great generation of players like Oswaldo Sánchez, Pavel Pardo and Rafael Márquez.

football is the same, it is the people who are different. Martino knows how to get his message across to a bunch of nobodies in a poor country(so to speak), not sure how he will deal with rich drama queen primadonnas.

The players weren't motivated in his second season as his succesfull first season.
Bielsla can only be the underdog, he's quite bad at maintaining success. You don't go from being EL finalists and a good domestic season to one as fucked up as last years with only losing Martínez.
