And even Donadoni could have done it.

Man, it was the penalty shoot-out against Spain. It was roulette. 50-50.
Had Buffon beat Casillas, the semis would have been Italy-Russia and Germany-Turkey.
Even the average Italy with a clown as their head coach could've done it.

The Italians are too hard to beat in major tournaments. In euro 2008 they lost on penalties, euro 2004 ended without a defeat but Denmark-Sweden 2:2 fucked them up. Euro 2000 was a last minute goal by Wiltord and a golden goal that eliminated them.
They won WC 2006, they were robbed in Korrea and again the penalties against the hosts France eliminated them in 1998.

They're one of the hardest teams to eliminate at WC's and EC's, no matter who's playing for them and no matter who's their coach.

As a betting man, i never bet against them.
Donadoni was very lucky, Italy never played this bad for a long time (Holland's huge defeat!), luckily they were even close beating Spain, but still if the right tactics were played, they could have played and even won the tournament. I would blame it all on Donadoni and the wrong players he picked..

Donadoni is the Molinaro of coaching, I think about it that way, he is below average.

But you can still qualify to the WC if you get second place in Europe(Playoffs), but in Africa its 1st place or you're out, which evens things out.
I never said it's easy for Africa but I still think it's harder for Europe and in the end we'll see who's out for both of them. Teams from Europe will suffer more because most of them are stronger.

But this time, when they wake up they will realize that they are stuck with Zambrotta who lost it, Marchionni who's bad, Palombo, Pepe, Oddo, Barzagli, Panucci, Bonera and Pazzini, who are all average players.

They shouldn't be underestimated of course but it's not the old Italy and I don't expect anything big from them...and ESPECIALLY without Cassano and Amauri.
i expect QF elimination, as you said there ahve been stronger Italy teams in recent history who have done worse, but i also believe this could be the most open word cup in many years
