"Like Zambrotta? What are you crazy? Zambrotta has been the best fullback in the world, I did it for the first time. Zambrotta will sue you & win too! It is not my role, but I am ready to do it again, because this is the mentality of this team and I am proud to be part of it"

I liked his positioning alot as a fullback, didn't make any mistakes but he may lack some strength to play as a defender. We'll surely see him again there though with our injury situation.

Did no one see him stop Pato 1 on 1?

Then kill Gattuso?

No one saw him rape Inzaghi at the corner flag?

How about the couple headers he had on long balls to Ibra?

The sliding tackle at midfield coming from behind the forward?

Him being the only one to challenge Ibra on the shot Melo blocked with his head?

The 3 clearances from inside his own box?

And this is against Milan in his first game at fullback, and not even on the right side?

And Motta is definitely better?

Because "he's a rightback". Well fuck me, my buddy's a "rightback". I guess he's better than Pepe there.

Pepe is a shit winger and I'm not saying he's a great fullback but he's our best option right now. Motta and Grygera are not better! They're not even better defensively! Not to mention the huge upgrade on offence Pepe will provide.

You mean make a stupid tackle and get a booking for it?

As amusing as it always is to see Gattuso get kicked, that was poor play by Pepe.

You can just about claim Pepe may be better defensively than Motta, but it is ridiculous to suggest he is a better defender than Grygera.

And if Pepe is such a shit winger, how will he suddenly be a huge attacking upgrade when played at fullback?

If he's not better than Grygera it's sure as hell pretty close. Just because Grygera is never involved in the play doesn't mean he's good at defending.

For example, never in his life will Grygera make a sliding challenge at midfield on a forward like Pepe did last game. He'll back off 5 yards and allow the player to turn and run. Or he'll get caught flat footed like in our last EL game and let the player have a clear shot. But no one will blame him because he's so far out of the fucking play.

And if you can't see how Pepe at LB is an attacking upgrade over Grygera well...

And I've already spelled it out a million times why Pepe is a shit winger. He has no talent inside the box. As a fullback he doesn't need to dribble, finish or set up plays like a winger. He can just use his pace and long crossing which he's actually decent at.

But what's most concerning is that all of you guys seem absolutely HELL BENT on continuing with Motta/Grygera and Pepe on the bench when Pepe just played his first game on the wrong side as a fullback against Milan with the team undermanned and can barely be said to have made a mistake (Ibra's goal). Meanwhile, Pepe shows us glimpses of adequacy at FB by stopping Pato's gay stepovers 1 on 1. Completely ignored.

How does this make sense for the betterment of the team?

If we continue with Marchisio at LM, how is a Pepe/Marchisio left side worse than a Grygera/Marchisio left side?

Because he doesn't need too much talent or ability with the ball, being a full back suits his abilities nicely, being fast and energetic. He can cross about as well as our other fullbacks too.

I dont think Ibra's goal is his fault. First of all, Ibra is 1.95 tall, while Pepe is 1.79.

Secondly, its not the job of the left/right back to mark the centre forward.

What Grygera is good at is channelling attackers into less dangerous areas of the pitch. It is not always necessary, or advisable, to try to make a tackle.

There is no evidence that Pepe can be an upgrade on the other fullbacks.

You, and others, keep banging on about trying this, that or the other, but that doesn't interest me.

If the coach wants to try things, he can do that in training. If it works, perhaps try it in game.

As it is, there is nothing to suggest Pepe can solve the issues in the fullback area, so I wouldn't play him there.

I would much rather see Juve try a natural fullback from the primavera team if the squad is stretched to the extent that there is not enough natural fullbacks in the senior squad.

Because he doesn't need too much talent or ability with the ball, being a full back suits his abilities nicely, being fast and energetic. He can cross about as well as our other fullbacks too.
But he's a 'shit winger' and is meant to provide a 'huge upgrade' over the likes of Motta, who is pretty decent going forward.

Of course, Pepe is not a shit winger, so he would be an attacking upgrade at fullback.

actually it is,as a full back it is your job to move inside and pick up the player in the middle when the ball is the other side and the centre back has to come across to cover the front post. if the ball comes down the left, the right back will go to the runner, the RCB will push across to the front post, the LCB will come across to the forward and the Lb would cover in behind and support his CB by picking up the second forward, the backline is a unit and the full back are defenders first, attacking options second
