The old Camo, the one we signed was a mediocre player. At best. He was way too inconsistent to be considered good. Pretty weak physically even, at times.
Took him some time to become the strong player we all liked.
And honestly, I did not like that signing at the time either.
He is "good" because he is a pretty strong player, who seems to be well aware of what he can & can not do. Plus, he seems to give his all whenever I have seen him, something I always appreciate.
Again, I do not want him at Juve (though if the latest news is to be believed, it doesn't look too shabby from a financial point of view), but imo he is better than the Camo we signed.
But it turns out that the Camo we signed had the potential to become truly great (something I did not expect tbh), and I don't think Pepe has that.

Juventus are expected to wrap up negotiations for Simone Pepe and close a deal with Udinese for his transfer worth around €12 million, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The 27-year-old, who is with Italy in Sestriere, is on the verge of signing a four-year deal with the option to sign on for a fifth year. He will receive €1.4m per annum compared to the €800,000 a season he currently earns with Udinese.
Giuseppe Marotta met with the player's agent on Thursday, who gave the all clear for talks, and now his aim is to convince Udinese to agree a deal. The director is expected to hold further dialogue with the Friuli-based club later today.
Once he gets their approval, Pepe will sign with the Old Lady. Marotta will also use talks to reignite a permanent deal for Antonio Candreva.
Udinese are holding out for a €7m offer for Juve to obtain the other half of his rights.

It doesn't matter if it's the weakest Italy ever. Before the 2006 WC Italy didn't have a sweet ass ride through the qualifiers, much like this year, yet they won the damn thing. And I don't think ANYONE tipped them to win that cup. Italy is always a threat in the WC, that's just the way it is. And Pepe being in that squad says something, whether you like it or not.

I wasn't posting here during the WC time back in 2006 but that was one hell of a squad. All of the players at their prime. I didn't tip them to win the whole thing but they were damn strong. Canna, Nesta, Zambrotta, Pirlo etc. were all great. This Italy is average compared to that. But we'll see, this is just a blind speak at the moment.
