Marotta provided the squad for him to win it with. Look what both have done. Prade ruined Roma with average signings and Sabatini is following suit.

Before people say about the money spent on Isla, let's see him perform first, as when that happens people will be raving about the signing. Isla is one of the best in his position. Hence the high cost.

Then why sign Bendtner at all?? Its pretty obvious he knew there's a glaring issue on top of the attack. He went out to the press and spoke about it. ALOT. Even if this team wins the scudetto, what's he going to do next year when we'll need three quality players in total?? The Market conditions won't get any easier. The man is out of his depth.

Although I'm extremely annoyed with Marotta at the moment, I will say two things in his defence:-

1) The Italian league is extremely unappealing at present, none of the other big teams are attracting talent from abroad either.

2) As a result of this, all transactions are occurring between Italian based teams. But nobody is gonna sell their prized assets on the cheap or to a direct rival when they know there's a possibility one of the oil teams could pay a larger sum.

I think of Marotta as the Ranieri of DSs. Good enough for building a foundation, but not to take it to the next level. Yeah, we won the Scudetto, but we did that without a proper goalscoring striker. A top team in any league has a proper striker. Even Marotta acknowledged that fact before the mercato began. Winning Serie A is going to be an easy affair considering the quality of the league. It's time for us to seize the initiative to make our squad comparable to that of the bigwigs in Europe. And I don't think Marotta has the skill to do that.
