Not normally one for police intimidation myself, but if someone like that threatened my family, my entire array of muscular 6' 4" relatives would pay him a quick visit one evening and explain the precise conditions the police would find his corpse in if etc. Much handier when you can explain that these are the same fine people who'd be 'investigating' such an issue.

Why shouldnt police be allowed to carry their guns off duty ?? Just imagine being with your family, on your own time, and bumping into someone you arrested, who is extremely violent (which actually happened to me...twice !!)

It is my right to protect myself AND my family from someone who has already attempted to do bodily harm to me.

No offence to police officers, but if some cops abuse their right to have a gun on-duty, why should they be able to hold a gun off-duty. Yeah sure, it's a given that you should protect yourself and your family, but by what means is a different story. What you're saying here is that everyone should hold possession of a firearm.

Huh? Man, I don't know if you made a joke or what...do you mean literally control (ie. accuracy), or that a cop knows when to use his/her gun.

When a police officer is off-duty, he's/she's a normal citizen who has the right to protect his/her family and him/herself, and now they're equal to everyone else. What makes it right that they hold guns and nobody else does, even though some people may have the same motive that he has: defense.

Hence, nobody other than on-duty cops or government defense should have guns.

People shouldn't be allowed to have guns. The only people that I see that should be allowed to have guns are police men and professional hunters. I don't know why anyone else should be allowed to have a gun. The American laws about guns are a joke if you ask me. People think having a gun is their right (!). I am a police officer 24 hours a day, seven days a week...whether I like it or not

Police are NEVER normal citizens...we have the unfortunate luck of running into people at the most unopportune times who's freedom we've taken away....you think they respect us, even though they know their 1000% in the wrong ?? The answer is a big, fat NO !!

Many of the people I've locked up are drug dealers, and other violent felons who DO carry guns...should I not have the right to be armed, knowing that they dont stay in jail forever, and that their gunning for revenge ?? Again. put your thinking cap on kid...the answer is YES !!!

I have friends who are Metro Toronto cops, and I feel bad for them that they cant carry off duty, and they agree with me 100%

It will take something bad to happen to an officer off duty for the liberal/socialist government of Canada to get a fucking clue
