Novellino defies touchline ban
Thursday 27 September, 2007

Torino Coach Walter Novellino has been fined and reprimanded for breaking into the Granata’s dressing room to give instructions while banned.

Novellino was serving a touchline suspension for insulting Andrea Gervasoni during his side’s draw with Siena as Toro faced Parma at the Stadio Tardini.

However, the ex-Sampdoria tactician hid in a room between the shower room and the dressing room and spoke to his players from behind the wall before escaping back to the stands.

The daring scheme proved futile as the Turin outfit flopped to a 2-0 defeat against a rejuvenated Crociati side.

It is believed that Novellino got the idea from ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho who did the same thing during Chelsea’s 2005 Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.

The likely punishment will hit the Avellino native hard in the wallet as he now faces a fine of around £8,000, but the ban will not be extended.

Torino Without Rosina Against Juve

Torino have been dealt a blow ahead of the big derby against Juventus on Sunday as their influential striker Alessandro Rosina has been ruled out for the match by the club’s medical staff.

Toro coach Walter Novellino will have to do without the 23-year-old, who is suffering with muscular problems, but at least he can fall back on the services of fit-again Nicola Ventola.

Torino are still smarting from the defeat away to Parma in midweek, but they will have put the disjointed display down to having one eye already on the battle of Turin.

In other Granata news, France U17 starlet Malik Hioune has managed to impress during a trial period with the club, and the former Bordeaux midfielder is now expected to receive a professional contract as a result.

Aaaaaah the derby! It's been a while! When was the last time?

Toro... So these guys actually think they are The team in town, aye? Juve is only a team supported by southern immigrants who ended up in Turin just because of FIAT?
They argue we have no spirit where they would be the real traditional club of Turin...?

Well... They were founded in 1906 with the merging of two clubs: Internazionale Turino and FC Torinese. Vittori Pozzo (yes Il vecchio Maestro, who coached the NT to 2 World Cup victories in 1934 and 1938 was a major actor of that merging. The new club was then called Football Club Torino.

Under the fascist regime the changed the name to Torino AC (Associazone Calcio).
After WW II, a new name came, Torino Calcio. Under that name, they conquered their share of the glory, but after the financial disasters of 2005 they re-re-renamed the club to Torino Football Club.
Talk about the being the most traditional club and all... :disagree:

Now, for football matters, I will not say I fear them, but they are a whole other calibre than Reggina. Di Loreto, Natali, Motta, Barone, Grella, Lazetic, Di Michele Ventola, Bjelanovic; goode that Rosina is out.... They have some resources. And Novellino is not half a tactician either.

For our team, I think we should go for fighting spirit. The stadium (Stadio Grande Torino when they play), will be full with granate, too happy to boo and whistle their most hated entity, our team.
I'd recommend to go for guys like Nedved, Iaquinta if available or Del Piero, Brazzo and the rest of the Roma team.
Not sure about doing trident or not. Let C-RA decide on that. Same goes for Tiago, Ranieri knows him good, and knows when to play him to build up confidence and when to avoid a fiasco, so I'll trust him.

Prediction: we win a tense match. 1-2
