considering the performance in the second half, getting a point is a good result, especially while other rivals lost points against much weaker sides (milan against parma, inter against livorno).

First half was pretty good in terms of entertainment. And we didnt deserve to go 2-1 down at ht. First goal was a mistake from criscito, but we all know his young and not as expierenced. The second roma goal was a stupid scramble in the box though.

Second half we lost the momentum, dp missing the penalty didnt help either. A long period of time it seemed that roma 3rd was closer then juves 2nd. I remember the tv commentator saying that this one is in the bag for roma, when there was still 20 minutes to play. But credit to the team not giving up, and eventually we got the goal.

In the end a good result for juve, after all those chances roma had.

That's why he's called the tinkerman.
I'm not so sure a set 11 is the right answer. One of the problems under Capello was our opponents always knew what they were going to get, telegraphing any gameplan of ours and making it that much more predictable to counter.

This team has holes it needs to patch in order to compete at the CL-qualifying level. We are not going to get there by playing the same crew with the same tactics every match -- I can guarantee you that.

Having your true capitan sit on the bench and having no real leadership on the field is what will kill this team.
I follow your logic, but do realize we had a better result today with DP off the pitch than with him on the pitch. I don't think that's going to happen all that often, but today's result torpedoes a hole in your singular theory right there.

Iaquinta: “We never give up”

Vincenzo Iaquinta was definitely the man of the match today. On from the start alongside Trezeguet and Del Piero, he was decisive with an assist and the final equalizer: a performance worthy of a World Champion like him.
I've been a doubter of how much of a "World Champion" he is. Never really liked him much at Udinese. Always thought we overpaid for him. That said, he's delivering, and he earned my MOM vote as well:

How incredibly shortsighted. Not to mention uncalled for.

Anyway Criscito's partner in crime, Andrade hasn't really done much better so far. Tough luck to Andrade, as I wouldn't wish such an injury on anyone, but to be honest I don't think we'll miss him much; he hasn't really left an impression on me.
Criscito should not be sent to Siberia, like some are calling for. That said, he's a green novice out there -- far from anything close to a first choice for a starting CB at any Juve team in history. But we need all the help we can get with our shallow CB situation.

And Dominic, as much as you may not care fore Andrade, he's the best option we have this season. Now we don't even have that much.

Criscito really needs to hit the GYM, his lack of strength appeared obvious in this game. However, i still give much of the credit for this draw to CR, as we played really like a big team, although we have many missing players. i like the spirit today

Did you guys watch the highlights on Rai Due ?
Totti was deep in offside for the first goal, everyone in the studio ( including Aquilani and Capello agreed on that)

And he fouled after receiving the ball. I mean, pushing away defenders was a foul last time I checked.

I dont know why people are bashing at Criscito..sure,it was his mistake that led to the goal, but i thought Andrade could've helped more..And come on,it was Totti,a Roman legend, whether you like Totti or not,he has been in great form..I think if that was some other defender,I think Totti would still get the better of that defender..Give Criscito a chance,it was his first BIG match in Serie A...The guy can only improve, and i hope Ranieri wont stop giving him chances to shine..

Forza Criscito!!

1. Very good result to get a draw against an in form Roma in their crib. We could have easily won this.
2. DP played well, and the goal "bad luck" will change
3. Very sad news about Andrade--I really like him. I wonder if Juve will wait out his 1 yr recovery time, or try and wiggle out of his contract (there is a rumor that there is an escape clause of sorts in his contract)
4. Legro and Criscito are going to have to step it up
5. The phone lines between Torino and Cannavaro's house are probably already burning up.
6. I still say we win lo scudetto ;)

I am trying my very best to look at the positives here- we stole a draw where we could have very well lost by 2 or 3 goals.

Roma looked the better side throughout, as we seemed to struggle to keep pace with the Giallorossi. I think I was about as shocked as the Roma players when Trez scored, it was a nice buildup started with DP, for his only positive play of the day.

Just when everyone got excited that we may actually have a chance to win this game, Totti brought us all down to reality, as he slammed a weak and ineffective Criscito to the floor, and slotted home the equalizer.

From that point on, I thought we were on the ropes for most of the game. We never looked like scoring again, and Roma kept attacking in waves...luckily, most of their shots were pretty ineffective. Our defense was pretty comedic in the first half, and that will be our biggest problem this season...made even more so with Andrade getting injured. Roma did a good job of spreading the field, and controlling the game.

We were pretty fortunate that Iaquinta was able to notch up the equalizer, as it was an unbelieveable play..otherwise this post would have a lot more venom :eyebrows:

my ratings-

Buffon - 7 - He had a very solid game, I was starting to wonder if he regretted his decision to stay, after being left hung to dry on both goals.

Grygera - 6.5 - Our best defender on the field today. He was solid throughout, and showed some good ability

Andrade - 5.5 - he isnt fast enough back there. Biggest mistake was playing referee, raising his hand for the foul, instead of attempting to chase down Totti on the first goal

Criscito - 4.5 - Second game this season that he's had to be subbed out for poor performance. This guy aint ready for the big time, and we have no time for on the job training. He's lacking strength and skill...loan him out to Siena in January, and bring in some REAL defenders

Chiellini - 6 - A solid, mistake-free game, and had the assist on the tying goal

Nedved - 5 - Super disappointing game from Pavel today. He was painfully ineffective, and looks like he's lost a few steps. I wish we could blame the tactics

Zanetti - 6.5 - Always solid in our middle, he was the best nidfielder today. He wont be giving up a starting spot for Tiago or Almiron

Nocerino - 5.5 - When he's in the middle playing ala Gattuso, he does well...but when he gets to the outside and tries to cross like a winger, he looks more like a ball-boy

Iaquinta - 8 - MOM. He had a nice assist on the first goal, and was all over the damn field, trying to make things happen... some of our other players should follow his lead. Slick header for the equalizer. He could be the short term answer to Camo on the right side, because unlike Nocerino, Iaquinta can cross a bit

Del Piero - 5 - Anyone can have a penalty saved, but to completely miss the net is inexcusable !! Had one decent pass the entire game, and did nothing else positive

Trezeguet - 6.5 - Beautiful finish on the first goal. Wasnt given enough service, seeing as though Roma was doing all the attacking

Subs:

Legrottaglie - 6 -made one mistake on the coverage of a corner, but was solid the rest of the game

Birindelli - 6 - lucky for us, no mistakes

Palladino - 6 - was more of an impact player that DP...we'll see if he get the start against Reggina

Coach:

Ranieri - 5 - some may thing Ranieri's tactics and formations were correct, but we nearly lost the damn game, and were completely outplayed for 90 minutes. 4th place ?? Not likely

Juve management- 0- Sucko and company should have seen the defensive problems before the season even started, and with Andrade's injury, we are in some serious trouble. Did these fools actually believe this defense would hold up with the personnel we have ?? I wont mention the money completely wasted in the midfield either....

Jack, did you or some other mod edit Vinman's post ? Fair and good analysis, without attacking Iaquinta. It can't be Vinman

I totally agree with changing up the lineup a little bit each game because crapello started the exact same team every fucking game. Although one exception to that would be having a set backline because the more they play together the better they play.

About DP, I don't think its time to bench him yet. The last 2 games he was pretty unlucky, especially against udinese. How many crossbar's did he hit? 2? 3? You can't doubt your Capitan after a few bad games. Give him a couple more chances and if he doesn't prove himself bring him on as a sub. and let him earn his way back on the field like he did in 04/05.

For the final 20 minutes, it looked like Juve was content to lose only 2-1. Then, at the end, one man decided to show some heart. Iaquinta (whom I referred to as "Waste of Space") ran ragged off the ball, pressuring the Roma defenders deep in the roma end, forcing them to knock the ball out of Iaquinta's legs. The ensuing Roma throw-in was illegal, and turned to a Juve throw, which that man Iaquinta headed home for a glorious equallizer. Forza Waste of Space!

. . . and a word for ADP: Alex was subbed off after a really bad day, but I liked that he did not sulk, did not walk off the pitch straight to the changing rooms. He remained on the bench and was there leading the cheers. A good example and a great leader even when he's having a terrible run.

This just in from TribalFootball.. apparently

New Training regime for Criscito

After several disappointing performances in the Juve shirt, Domenico Criscito has been ordered to strictly adhere to what is believed to be a revolutional new training programme consisting of meat eating, beer drinking and hardcore gym sessions.

Mr Raineri, the man in charge of the programme describes it as “a way to put some hair on his chest” of the next great Italian defender believed to be Fabio Cannavaro’s heir. The extensive regime consists of

Breakfest – 3 T-Bone steaks + 6pk of beer
Brunch – 2 hour gym session followed by 6 protein shakes combined with doses of creatine
Lunch - watch the Arnold Schwarzenegger DVD “pumping iron” followed by a 3 large meals of steak, chicken and fish
Afternoon: Another extensive workout followed by 15 egg sandwiches
Tea – Yet another large meal consisting of Pork Rib cutlets and a 6pk of Heineken beer
Bedtime – 3 protein shakes with a goodnight steak
