We beat the last placed team. Something we couldn't do in the previous round.
Progress!

This game really had it all:
- Amateur defending from both sides.
- Another one of those games from Vlahovic.
- McKennie being everywhere, literally. (This is not a compliment in case anyone is wondering.)
- A clueless Motta.
- Me being puzzled by what I'm seeing.

The more the season progresses, the more we seem to be struggling. Things sure aren't looking great right now.

It's an unpopular opinion, but I think our struggles also have to do with the inexperience of our team (and coach). The average age of our starting XI yesterday was 24, and sometimes it's even less than that. The average age of our bench (excluding the keepers) was 21.5.
If we exclude Danilo, who is finished anyway, our oldest field players are 26. Di Gregorio, who is still considered a young keeper in Italy, is our oldest player (27 yo). The team that made the CL final in 2017 had only one player younger than 27 (Dybala).
We need balance between experienced veterans (27+) and quality young players, but what we have is a washed up veteran (Danilo) and young players with suspicious quality (with a couple of exceptions).

i'm happy that we managed to squeeze a win out at the end of our difficult streak. now let's look ahead for the easy rounds :agnelli:

Yikes that's a ridiculous stretch.

I hope to get tickets for Benfica game, then 3 days later Empoli game at home too.

Spend my birthday watching us draw with aimless gutless football. Character building.

Out of 22 games Ive seen this season (I missed coppa and CL vs PSV), I enjoyed maybe 5-6 games. The rest of the matches were simple awful, either boring (Empoli, Roma...) to a point Id consider swithing off or full of blunders from both sides like the last match. With almost half a season gone we can draw some conclusions. I sincerely hope Motta makes it here, that we will start playing better as the time goes by, although all the evidence points to contrary atm, as I dont think changing coaches frequently is a road to success. However, so far this has been one of the worst half a seasons since I started following this club. Almost 30 years. Ferrara, Del Neri type of bad. 7/17 league wins is a disaster. I dont care if we are in rebuilding mode, results going forward need to be better.

Extremely judgemental post.Let us wait till March before reaching such conclusions.

That's still 5-6 games more than in the last 3 years.
Sure, but I prefer team winning even if playing badly. Id gladly be bored to death while having more points. But being bored to death and falling to win, is not acceptable. I did not expect champagne football but I did expect at least 50% Serie A games won.

I know, April seems better. Our season starts then. March is still to early.

imagine knowing your experience is going to suck, but still choosing to waste money anyway.

Yeah I've noticed this before, the lack of consistent style and identity of the team is party because a lot of our players are still figuring themselves out
