whats arkan got to do with anything? If their fans had any clue they would know that the dog Arkan despised catholics
What on earth are you talking about? Lazio fans hold up banners of Arkan during matches...that is just an example I used to show Laziale behavior and question why people are surprised by Di Canio's actions. Again stuff such as this is nothing new..

Cesar suffers thigh strain Wednesday 14 December, 2005

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazio will have to do without Cesar Rodriguez Aparecido until the New Year after he picked up a thigh strain during a friendly test today.

The Brazilian pulled up during the encounter with local side Divino Amore, which they went on to win 4-0 with goals from Tommaso Rocchi, Guglielmo Stendardo, Paolo Di Canio and Simone Inzaghi.

Doctors have diagnosed Cesar with a strain in his left thigh muscle and he will be out of action for two to three weeks.

He won’t be able to make his comeback until after the Christmas break, missing crucial Serie A matches with Juventus and Lecce.

The Biancocelesti star has been beset by injuries over the past 12 months and had only recently returned to the squad after another setback.

    Saturday Lazio – Juventus

After having beaten Cagliari with an amazing as well as authoritarian poker of goals, evident demonstration of the determination and obstinacy of the players, Juventus, still leading the league, will fly to Rome to face Delio Rossi team, Lazio. The game will take place Saturday night at 8:30 p.m.

Lazio comes from the match against Livorno, where it was defeated 2 –1, beaten at the 79’ after Pandev had temporarily got the score even. The one in Tuscany was the fifth defeat in the current championship for Lazio, team that does not seem to express itself the way it would like whenever it moves away from the Olimpico. When it comes to playing in front of a friendly public, the team does change its face. No defeats, two ties and five wins is what the boys coached by Delio Rossi have achieved within the Roman walls up to this point. A nice loot, partly neutralized by the many defeats and away-ties, but that still allows Lazio to occupy the fifth position in the league with five additional points compared to last year. The team’s goleadors are Pandev and Rocchi, backed up by Tare and Di Canio.

Saturday night Juventus will have to face a fierce team that has never got it wrong and expressed a good game when supported by its fans, also thanks to an excellent defense and to an offense that always scores heavy goals. Juventus will get ready this week to find out all the weaknesses of its opponents and will aim to success, as always. After fourteen victories in fifteen games played, with a team of champions in such a great shape and with a winning coach as Capello, it couldn’t be otherwise.

    Lazio-Juventus: curiosities

The scale of the precedents between Capello and Lazio is definitely heavier on the side of the Juventus coach. The coach from Pieris has in fact played against Lazio 28 times during his career, both in the Serie A and in the Italian Cup. His successes are 15, against nine ties and only four losses.

Even as far the precedents against Delio Rossi are concerned Capello keeps on being a winner, with three successes and an even-game. Lazio’s coach, on the other hand, has never won against Juventus coach. He however beated the team in one occasion, evened the score in other game and ended up defeated in the remaining three precedents.

    Nedved, luxury ex

Pavel Nedved, together with Giuliano Giannichedda, is the ex of next Saturday’s challenge in Rome against Lazio. The Czech midfielder comes from a great match against Cagliari, sealed by an important goal, the one that opened the series and allowed Juventus to impose itself and continue its triumphal march to the head of the league.

Our midfielder has scored already twice in this year’s championship and both goals were important: one in the 2-0 victory against Inter and the other during the 4-1 game against Roma. Europe-wise, he scored one of the two goals that allowed Juventus to defeat Bruges (2-1) in the season debut of the Champions League.

Pavel thus finds again Lazio, team that has brought him to Italy and in which he played for 5 years, also winning the championship.

    Nedved, the character

When they say that Pavel Nedved is a top athlete, they say a great truth. The Czech midfielder lives in fact for soccer and divides his life between this sport and his family. He has a gorgeous wife, Ivana, and two sons, a boy and a girl named exactly like them, Pavel and Ivana.

His only recreation is golf, a sport he practices since a couple of years in his spare-time and that he enjoys a lot. He lives outside Turin, in a beautiful residential area in the green, where he can also train on his own jogging, often with his son’s mates. He loves Italian food and to watch DVDs, comfortably seated on his sofa. He likes movies of all kinds, but as he tries to go along his sons’ wishes, he became a kids films expert. He listens to Laura Pausini, his favourite singer, and whenever he is on vacation he fancies a bit of sea and sun.

Thuram: “Each game is a challenge to win”

“There is nothing to celebrate. Being ten points ahead doesn’t really make a difference today. There are still many games, and each of them is a challenge we want to win. In order to succeed, we always get on the pitch as we have the same amount of points as the others”. This is how a determined Lilian Thuram answered to the journalists during the usual press conference. They were asking if the championship already has a winner: Juventus, that has been leading the league since the very first match-day.

“Let’s not forget that we had a good advantage last year as well, but then we encountered some difficulties. We have to keep on playing to win and not allow the teams chasing us up to relax”. It cannot be denied that some improvements were made from the past season: “Maybe last year in the same period we were a bit more tired. Surely, having won the championship the previous year gave us confidence. Now we have more trust in ourselves”.

Also, the determination of Capello is contagious. “Capello pushes us to give our best in every occasion, even when we are ahead enough that we could be satisfied and take a breath. This is the right aptitude, of a serious person”. “And then” – continues the pleased Juventus defender – “playing well, with such a great team, it is lots of fun”. Saturday night there will the match against Lazio, a tough team that will get on the pitch looking for the three points. “As any other team. All our opponents want to beat us, and whenever they get to play against Juventus, they do their best and play great games. But we also want to win, so it will definitely be a great match”.

    Christmas Party

Saturday night, in the evocative frame of the Scuola di Applicazione, the traditional night dedicated to the exchange of Christmas wishes took place. Managers, technical staff and players greeted the Tribuna Cento season ticket holders, commercial partners, employees and consultants. The evening was a success with very involving moments, as the entry of the Brigata Taurinense band that entertained the guests with the best of its repertoire. A moment dedicated to solidarity could not be missing either: each one of the players donated something personal (jerseys, shoes, shin-guards) for the lottery. All the proceeds will be devolved to the charitable project “Crescere insime al Sant’Anna”.

When he scored goal number 100

Last September 15th was a day to be marked on the calendar for David Trezeguet, as he became part of Juventus history among its “centenary” bombers, meaning those who scored over 100 goals wearing the black-and-white jersey. Achievement widely over-reached as he already got to 113. On the occasion of his 100th, Trezegol released a wonderful interview to Hurrà Juventus in which he says which are his three favourite goals. Here they are:

Among your 100 goals, which one was the most important?

“Obviously the one against Milan last year because it made us win the championship”.

    The most significant?

“The one I scored last year against Real Madrid because to score against such an opponent is always great and because it came after a quite hard start of the season during which I had to rest a lot because of a medical operation to the shoulder”.

    And the most beautiful?

“Technically the one scored in Verona the year I became top-goalscorer. It was a diagonal left-kick in the air. I liked it and it was important because it allowed us to even the score in a very difficult match and on a delicate moment (04/11/01 Verona-Juventus 2-2).

    Trezeguet, his history

David Trezeguet, born in Rouen, France from Argentinean parents, started his soccer career in Platense before moving to France where he made his debut in the first team among the lines of Monaco aged 18. After five years in the French championship, during which he won two league titles, David got to Juventus with an enviable palmares. He in fact triumphed with the French national team during the ’98 World Cup and the 2000 European Cup, won thanks to his historical golden goal against Italy.

David moved thus to Turin where he contributed to the victory of three championships by scoring multiple goals. Supporters are all mad about Trezegol, pitiless forward who scores quick-fire with his head and feet. Goals which are critical most of the times, as it happened last year in the victory against Milan that made Capello’s team conquer the 28th championship.
