ouch this is bad timing. tiago isn't an option anymore (luckily ..) and we really need our best dm's to help our defence without chiellini.

He will according to some predictions...
probably. do we even have any other options ? we could play nedved in cm but that would mean an immediate one-way ticket for almiron

Since last year in Serie B, we met many new teams so they required some form of introduction. This year back to where we belong, I think we are familiar with most of the teams. My comments
Judging from the past, Juve have a good record vs. Samp. Having said that, they were never a walk in the park. Juve are at home this Sunday, with a weak weak defense - Criscito out on loan, Andrade injured, Legrottaglie might start but has had a recent illness, Jonathan Zebina injured, and most recently Chiellini!! It's up to our midfield line up to pile the pressure on up front and grab a quick goal or two to establish a lead, and discourage Samp from any dreams they have of a win on our soil!!

Samp's strong points are with out a doubt Claudio Bellucci who is having his best season in Serie A yet, or his career for that matter. Antonio Cassano is also on fire, and shouldn't be overlooked either - love him or hate him, he's been on good form as of late! Off the bench, there is Emiliano Bonazzoli who is capable of scoring spectacular goals himself. IMO- he doesn't deserve to be on the bench, this guy should go join some club where he can get more playing time. There is alot of experience in this side, with Castellazzi in goal (formerly of Roberto Baggio's Brescia), Cristian Maggio (ex-Fiorentina), their Capitano - Sergio Volpi who's been a Blucherchiati since 2003! Other honorable mentions go to Gennaro Delvecchio- who got called up once by Donadoni (who also headbutted Materazzi :howler: ) and Daniele Gastaldello - a Juve reject from the early 2000s Lippi era :touched: Palombo has also been appreciated by the Italian media as a hard-working midfielder, and is highly respected in Italy.

Sampdoria are on a high from their back to back Serie A (3-0 vs. Palermo)/Coppa Italia (4-0 vs. Cagliari) win in the last week. Juventus also on a high after their emphatic Empoli win, but have defensive concerns and injuries and will have to be cautious.

Brazzo to fix Juve midfield

Hasan Salihamidzic is ready to step in and solve the problems Juventus have in the centre of midfield ahead of this weekend's league game with Sampdoria.

With Antonio Nocerino suspended and summer signings Tiago and Almiron failing to impress Claudio Ranieri, the coach could well turn to 'Brazzo' to fill the role alongside Cristiano Zanetti.

The former 31-year-old Bayern Munich ace has already occupied the right side of midfield berth and full-back positions this season and claimed he was ready to move inside if needed.

Ranieri also has a selection headache in the heart of the defence where Giorgio Chiellini is out injured, so Zdenek Grygera will partner Nicola Legrottaglie in a bid to contain the impressive Antonio Cassano.

Thanx Rhizoid, this is the best introduction made for a team on this forum for a long time.

My prediction for the lineup:

......................Grygera.............Boumsong..........Legro............Molinaro

..........................Saly..........................Zanetti.......................Neddy

..........................Iaquinta...........................................Dp.....................
......................................................Trezy..........................................

I can honestly say that this is the worst defensive lineup in Juve's history.
but still I predict a 3_1 win with Gigi The Man of The match.

That was obvious after Saly took Tiago's place in the 2nd half against Empoli,I think Saly can play in any position in defence and midfield. He rarely put smthing extra but he always do what he is told to and his mistakes are rare and if I was Juve's coach on sunday,I would even play him as a CB alongside Legro.

Juventus Looking To Bounce Back

Juventus come into the game looking to bounce back from a poor start to the new year. Already 10 points behind league leaders Inter, the Bianconeri will have to ensure they take maximum points from this clash but the Old Lady knows only to well that a resurgent Sampdoria will be no pushovers.

Claudio Ranieri’s men have enjoyed a less than perfect season and hopes of winning the Scudetto this term and making history seem to have gone up in smoke. The Bianconeri were lucky to draw with Catania last week and were only able to escape with a point after Alessandro Del Piero despatched a dubious smash and grab penalty.

They now need to ensure no more slip ups otherwise a Champions League spot will begin to seem unlikely. Juve will need to rely on David Trezeguet to fire them back onto the right track to ensure they stay in the hunt for Europe’s elite club competition.

The Frenchman has hit the back of the net 13 times in Serie A this season and he leads the top scorers chart. No doubt he will be hoping to extend his tally on Sunday afternoon. Ranieri will be hoping his side bounce back to form with a win and avoid losing further ground to Inter.

On Sunday Roberto Mancini had a joke at Juve’s expense, saying that ten points were too much of a gap. Will Ranieri play an ace card and silence his critics? No doubt the former Chelsea coach will be looking for an opportunity to have the last laugh by beating Sampdoria.

Sampdoria Hoping To Continue Good

Form Walter Mazzari’s men had a poor start to the season and only started to show their potential after round 10. Antonio Cassano’s recent run of good form has ensured that Sampdoria’s season can be a good one and they could easily qualify for UEFA Cup football.

A win away to Juventus seems likely given the Bianconeri’s poor form at the back. Juventus have conceded 16 goals this season and Samp will be hoping to add to that tally as the Blucerchiati have scored seven in two games.

Much of this is down to Cassano, the troubled striker seems to have settled in well in the port city and he has rediscovered his potential under the watchful eye his coach. Everything seems to be going well for the Genova based club and if they continue the second half of the season in the way they started it then they might just be in with a shout for the Champions League places.

Sampdoria know only too well the problems Juve have been having recently and the port city side will be looking to take full advantage. Juventus have already lost at home this season when they went down 1-0 to Udinese in September.

No doubt Samdoria will go into the game full of confidence and Cassano might just cause another upset. The last time Il Talentino Di Bari played against Juventus he scored twice when Roma beat the Bianconeri 4-0 in February 2004.

TEAM NEWS

Juventus will be without Giorgio Chiellini who twisted his knee against Empoli on Wednesday night. Antonio Nocerino misses the game through suspension after picking up a yellow card against Catania.

Sampdoria will be without Vincenzo Montella and Gennaro Delvecchio both out injured, apart from that Mazzari has a full squad to choose from.

PROBABLE TEAMS

Juventus: Buffon, Birindelli, Molinaro, Grygera, Boumsong, Marchionni, Zanetti, Nedved, Salihamidzic, Del Piero, Trezeguet.

Sampdoria: Castellazzi; Campagnaro, Sala, Gastaldello; Maggio, Sammarco, Palombo, Pieri; D Franceschini, Cassano, Bellucci

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Juventus - David Trezeguet

The Frenchman is currently top scorer in Serie A and he will be the danger man for the Bianconeri.

Antonio Cassano – Sampdoria

The Bari-Born star has found his feet and scoring boots in the last few weeks and he will be hoping to impress his manager again and cause Juventus’ struggling defence a problem.

PREDICTION

Once upon a time there was only one winner in this tie but recently Juventus have struggled while Sampdoria are on the up. It will be a tight game and the visitors are well aware of Juve’s problems at the back. A draw seems on the cards at the Olimpico.

Juventus 1-1 Sampdoria

Giving Almiron a chance means we will end up with a lousy 4-4-2 with Sali taking the right flank. I say forget both Almiron and Tiago, field a midfield with Sali, Zanetti and Nedved, three forwards with Iaquinta Trezeguet and Del Piero. Field a backline with three primavera players and hope that the forwards with Nedved will be able to score more than we concede and we're all set for a spectacular match.

thats exactly what I want, & with our horrible defensive lineup I am expecting a spectacular performence from GiGi.

thanks for the article. i don't think i've seen him play in the centre before. it seems like CR really doesn't want to pick almiron, which i can understand as this game is very important ! although i had rather expected nedved in the centre then and palladino on the left

are you playing with four forwards here or basically putting del piero in midfield, a position in which he claimed he doesn't want to play ? (and tbh he's not really good there)
