Thanks to the forums for being down..
The first half was some of the best football we played all season considering the opposition, and that is only because Ranieri FINALLY decided to play to our strengths and field our three strikers. The movement was not lackluster as it usually is, and the interchanges between Camoranesi and Del Piero were superb. We couldn't get a goal off of some of those good moves but the goals will come once we are more familiar with such a formation. So kudos to Ranieri for finally growing a pair.
But that now leads me to this... why the hell was Camoranesi substituted? Why the hell put on Nocerino instead of Sissoko? Why on earth do we have to play three defensive midfielders just to win a match against Roma at home?
At half-time I was going to praise Ranieri for fielding such a starting XI, but with those substitutions I am not particulary happy. It's always something with Ranieri; something that fails to make sense. The scoreline could have been different after half-time if Chiellini wasn't in the side and if Roma took some of their chances. Some people will tell you that the three defensive midfielders were needed, maybe they were, but once Nocerino came on the pitch we couldn't string any passes together. This player is almost worthless out on the pitch for us at the moment, so taking off Mauro and putting Antonio on really destroyed our game. We took a big chance in reformulating our play half-time, but luckily Roma didn't score. If Camoranesi was still on the pitch we could have kept up our tempo going forward and caused Roma a bunch of problems, which is a defensive tactic within itself. We really looked terrible in the second half and that's because of Ranieri's substitions, like usual.
Great win despite the horrid second half, though, and thank you to our captain who once again won us a match with his individual brilliance. Anybody who doesn't have the utmost respect for Alessandro Del Piero is a fucking goddamn retard.
Buffon - 7 - Good save on the De Rossi freekick, and was solid when called upon.
Zebina - 6.5 - I love seeing this player run forward as it seems like nobody can handle his speed and strength. He didn't make too many errors at the back either, in fact I don't remember one.
Legrottaglie - 6 - He made some good interventions but when he hit the post that could have really killed us. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though as I've been in those situations before... not easy.
Chiellini - 7 - Pillar of strength at the back and cleared many dangerous balls.
Molinaro - 5.5 - He still doesn't have a clue how to play an offside trap, and once again his crosses were terrible and his positional sense is that of someone in middle school. Same old same old from this useless dolt.
Camoranesi - 7 - Great stuff before he was taken off. He was very active and won many balls back in Roma's third.
Zanetti - 6.5 - Solid as usual.
Nedved - 6.5 - Great running as usual and was causing Roma's right side some serious problems.
Del Piero - 8 - Really just amazing up top once again. The plays ran through him and he created most of our chances, like usual. Without him we'd be in 6th place.
Iaquinta (Yack) - 6 - Made some good runs but wasn't on the end of many chances.
Trezeguet - 6 - Same as Yack.
Nocerino - 5.5 - Sure he made a couple good tackles and a couple bad ones, but his crosses are just terrible and I don't know why he was brought on in the first place. IMO he's useless to us right now.
Sissoko - 6 - He made a couple crucial interventions and it's obvious he's a better destroyer than Nocerino. His power in midfield will be very useful for years to come.
Palladingo - NA
Ranieri - First Half: 7 Second Half: 4 - Like I said, there is always something wrong with his decisions.
Good win overall and I'm happy for the boys. FORZA JUVE.
