Ranieri expects Reggina result Tuesday 25 September, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Claudio Ranieri is expecting his Juventus side to put pressure on the leading pack with a win against Reggina tomorrow evening.

The Bianconeri have started well and were boosted by a 2-2 draw with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend after Vincenzo Iaquinta grabbed a last-gasp equaliser.

Juve will be strong favourites against a struggling Reggina side in Turin and will try and take advantage of their rivals’ tough fixtures.

“With all due respect to Reggina, this is a game we must win,” the ex-Parma boss stated.

“They won’t come here and lie down and they can play well as we saw against Roma. They will put up a fight and their 4-3-3 can be very practical and fast.

“We need to keep our feet on the ground and keep playing like we did last Sunday where everyone was ready to sacrifice themselves for the team. We need to play like a smaller club.”

Ranieri opted for a trident attack last weekend with Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet and Vincenzo Iaquinta all starting, but he isn’t certain that he will do the same again.

“I have three stupendous strikers, all with their own unique qualities,” he enthused.

“It’s very hard to leave any of them out. I don’t know how we will line up tomorrow, but the trident is certainly one option.

In defence, the long-term injury to Portuguese stopper Jorge Andrade looks set to give youngster Domenico Criscito a run in the side.

“Despite some unjust criticism, I still have full faith in Domenico,” Ranieri insisted.

“Playing week in week out should give him a chance to show his worth and his ability to deal with situations.”

Trezeguet Tells Ranieri To Keep Trident

Juventus striker David Trezeguet has told Coach Claudio Ranieri to retain the attacking 4-3-3 formation that he deployed against Roma in Sunday’s 2-2 draw.

The Tinkerman surprised everyone by scrapping his 4-4-2 system and unleashing Trezeguet, Alessandro Del Piero and Vincenzo Iaquinta up front in a fearsome-looking trident.

Although at times the Bianconeri looked light in midfield, the attacking setup did cause Roma some problems, especially in the first-half.

“Playing with three up front? I liked it; the Manager took a risk, not everyone would've come to Rome and played with three forwards, I hope we can use this type of formation again”, said the Frenchman.

“Most of all I'm happy about how we played, we showed our true character, we believed we could still make it right up to the end and we were able to equalize.”

Trezeguet also spoke about how it felt to hit triple goal figures in Juventus colours. The goal with Roma was the ex-Monaco hitman’s 100th Serie A goal for the Bianconeri.

“I feel proud because this is an important achievement and I've become even more a part of the history of this Club,” the 29-year-old concluded.

I want to see Palladino playing upfront if he was given the chance to start, not as a midfielder, Zanetti, Sali, Nocerino or whoever will play in midfield can hold Reggina.

I think Ranieri will field one of Tiago and Almiron tomorrow. The ball needs to be spread and the play needs to be controlled against a weaker opponent. I'm sure Ranieri intends for us to make the play.

palladino was showing off some hot skills versus Roma, anyone notice that ?
I love Palla's style.
Well that's been Palladino's biggest problem so far. It all looks nice, but it amounts to little.

I think Tomorrow's game is the perfect chance for Ranieri to show some tinkering, If he doesnt start with Palla and Tiago tomorrow, he'll never do

I like the 4-3-3 formation, especially this one :

-------Gryg-------Legro-----Crisito-------Cheillini/Molinaro

-----------Salih-----------Zanetti----------Tiago

------------------Iaq-----------------Palla

-------------------------Trez----------

But I'm sure DP will start, and maybe we'll see Nocerino at the RW AGAIN

:D very true...but then why the hell did they sign him....C-Ra keeps saying he needs to "adapt to Italian football"....i think bench-warming is the same in any European league ;)
