I watched the game for a second time and I have to say as the game went on our defence got better. They still do a poor job on set pieces and corners, but (other than the one goal at the end) they managed to shut Livorno out.

I hope that postive trend continues as the season goes on.

They are looking more solid than the off season but they still need a lot of work . They were also against a fairly bad Livorno side . They look good enough though , I'm impressed by criscito , he's proving to be a great prospect . If he continues this way , the Juventus management will be very happy they didn't get another CB .

The team is clearly starting to gel and play as a team . We have the potential to have a great season . The players have to maintain their humbleness then I think we have taken giant steps forward to rebuilding our team .

A long way to go, yes. Especially early in the game there were moments where it seemed like a lack of understanding/communication really exposed some gaping holes (which we would have paid for dearly had it not been for Livorno's inability to push forward). That was minimized towards the end of the match, but it is something they need to work on. But the gradual improvement seems to be there.
