psst, Kostarika, Nedved has long blond hair, whilst Alex doesn't. Maybe that comes in handy when you watch a match and decide to bless us with ur match reports. ;)

a great result. it seemed raw emotion and expectation got Juve really trying to prove a point to the rest of league. But can this aggression and hunger be carried out for alot of this season well thats a challenge to Ranieri! I think talent alone would have shone through againest a team like Livorno, but there are positives.

These two goals that Iaquinta scored wont get the monkey off his back maybe just a few of the nuts it was carrying along the way.He seems hungrey and passionate when playing which is terrific but iam waiting for him to cost us games when he misses sitters. When his confidence plummets so does his skills and ability

As for defence it still needs a leader, Andrade need to grab the raines and straigthen up cause ball watching and sometimes lack of positional noise will hurt in time. This aint street soccer everyweek after the first match it may seem it but it looks it may be a very long season for this Livorno team.

I was really hard on Iaquinta when he came, I just didn't see him as a big club player but not because he lacks skill but because he's not a teamplayer and the preason really showed my concerns were true. He tries to impress and do everything himself, a number of times he could have and should have passed to better positioned players. But when I saw his assist yesterday it gave me some hope, I really thought he's gonna shoot himself even though there already a number of defenders on him. He played it exceptionally, waited with ball, got the defenders on him and at the perfect time played the ball straight to Trez's feet. That was a great combination and teamwork, credit must go to Iaquinta just as much as Trez. Trez made a sublime finish, took the ball perfectly, didn't make an extra unnecesarry step forward and finished it off with his left foot in the lower left corner. Definetly one of his biggest strenghts, plays with both feet exceptionally.

That said I really didn't Iaquinta's behaviour after the second goal. I mean he's glad he scored, but that kind of celebrating is a little disrespectfull IMO. He should have laughed it off and calmly went over to Nedved and said to him: "you're the man". But he went crazy as if he took on the world and concquered himself. I don't like that, I see the effect of playing for a small club, where it's all about you, still in him but I think there is hope for him in this jersey. Teamwork is the key, if he can conquer that he'll be good for us.

Maybe you watched a different game... Iaquinta gestured that he was extremely lucky to score, then he went to thank Nedved.
No I watched the same game, and yes he did thank Nedved. After he jumped around for 2 minutes in ecstasy of himself. I don't like Inzaghi-types of goals, they lack any skill whatsoever and I don't see a need to celebrate them like that, he didn't do anything but stood in the way.

It was an okay assist of Iaquinta, but it was brilliantly taken by Trezeguet. This guy is absolutely lethal and yesterday he proved just why I think he's still one of the best finishers in the world. If not the best.

Iaquinta was really happy after his second goal. True. But can you blame him? He has had a very difficult preseason and the fans didn't exactly embrace him. So if he scores two goals and gives an assist in the first official game it must be heaven for the guy.

What surprises me is that people seem to think Del Piero did well. He was okay, but you simply expect more from him. He was hogging the ball at times, which annoys me, but on the other hand he's also the one who can pull us through difficult moments because he can hold the ball like that. He was also looking quite slow. Perhaps it's all a question of match fitness. I'm not saying he was awful, but we all know he can do a lot better. And God, I hope he will.

Anyway, now that I've slept a night over it, I only think one thing really:

After a year in Serie B, we won our first Serie A game 5-1. Inter are already shitting their pants.

Well, inzaghi kind of goals may not be spectacular but they count... and in football goals are what are important, not how you score them.

Remember 'inzaghi' goals gave Milan the champions league...

It was really not my intention to make such a big deal out of this, and you're right he was probably over the moon to have had such a effective debut for Juventus. I was never really fond of him so I'm probably overly critical, but I meant what I said; he could make it in a big club, he just needs to remember he's no longer the one-man-army as he was in Udinese.

I'd never argue about that, flukes count as anything of course.

I don't know why but I got this feeling Inter are gonna get back to choking ways today and play a draw. :D

I'm sure they're pretty intimidated.

I know what they're thinking now. If they don't win this title, their last means squat as well. Mancio already tried to cover himself in by saying last season was just as important as this one. It isn't and everyone knows. Knowing Inter they'll have a very hard season and will choke in an awful lot of games. I don't see them winning the scudetto.

what did the sign that he gestured after that 2nd goal mean ?

anyway the team playing part is improving in him and i saw that in the game where he would always raise his head and look for a teammate, instead of trying to take a shot or dribble.

@Seven, well about Alex. We need someone to keep the ball upfront and try make something out of nothing. As i thought the midfield backing could've been much better and then we would see alex keep the ball less. But I agree he didn't have a great game just and average one ( just shows how high he raised the standard, bearing in mind he had an assist, some good interplay and a very good free kick)

will Di Natale play today against Inter??
I really think we can compete for the scudetto, winning it will be too hard I guess but I think with no Europe this season & with a squad full of young players,we could compete till the last days of the championship.

beating the small teams with what count in the end if we could keep this spirit & personality in every game,I think we r up to smthing BIG this season.I just hope its not first match of the season flare.
