Zanetti reveals Juve rage

Inter captain Javier Zanetti has hit out at Pavel Nedved, the way his team were treated in Turin and FIFA President Sepp Blatter.

The 34-year-old joined the voices condemning Nedved for the challenge that broke Luis Figo’s fibula during the Derby d’Italia.

“How do I judge Nedved’s foul? He went in too hard and caused a serious injury to a teammate,” Zanetti growled.

“We need to stop these tackles from behind. I’ve always said that and something needs to be done.”

The Argentine also revealed that the Nerazzurri’s reception in Turin was far from ideal.

“At the stadium there was a horrible banner about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which is really nasty to see, but worse was the reaction we got when we arrived in the coach,” he explained.

“Because we were late there was practically no security so anything could’ve happened, but luckily we got there without trouble.

“These are things that shouldn’t happen in a League as big as Serie A.”

FIFA President Blatter made headlines by criticising the Beneamata for having no Italian players on the pitch against Juventus, but an indignant Zanetti pointed out his error.

“I was on the pitch and I have an Italian passport,” he stated. “That’s what I would say to Blatter.”

p.s the irony in how moratti was desperate to bring nedved to inter over the summer as he considered him a champion, and cause he went with his heart and not pocket and did sent figo to hospital he makes nedved out to b the devil, pish as if players of his like materazzi and cordoba have never inflicted injuries? and considers them true champions LOL!

I just have to say Im dang happy about our performance, we really are not on par with Inter player quality wise, but boy did our boys show heart.

Buffon, Chiellini, C. Zanetti, Palladino, Camo all deserve mention.

Mancio offers Pavel support

Juventus are rallying round under-fire star Pavel Nedved and the Czech winger has received unexpected support from Roberto Mancini.

Nedved became public enemy No 1 in Milan when he broke Luis Figo’s fibula with a challenge during the Derby d’Italia.

Juve’s staff held a meeting today to discuss their line on Nedved’s challenge and are standing fully behind the ex-Lazio star.

“Nedved is a fair player and he goes onto the pitch calmly,” Bianconeri Coach Claudio Ranieri.

“He is a champion and he gives the side its spirit, but he always stops short of antagonism.

“I want to reiterate that the incident with Figo was an accident and was the kind of thing that can happen in a game.

“There was no malice and he was going for the ball.”

While support from his club comes as little surprise, the backing of Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini is somewhat unexpected.

“”I think that Nedved’s foul was just a routine one and he was going for the ball,” he stressed.

“We are saddened by what has happened to Figo, but these things can happen.”
