Capello is indeed biased in favor of Zlatan, however I wouldn't quite say the tactical explanations for subbing Del Piero were bullshit. I remember many a times were opposition defenses were tired and seemingly becoming weaker. Capello would bring Zalayeta in to use his muscle and force to help weaken the defense further and exploit their fatigue to the fullest with his pace and power, something that Del Piero obviously does not have. I could easily see this most of the time last season and agreed with Capello, however today I just don't understand. Zlatan had a horrible match and I would have pulled him off, even to his dismay.
Stupid to say the least. I'm not even sure if Cassano has spot on the pitch as we speak with Capello's insistence on playing Trezeguet and Zlatan up top. We have not even seen what Mutu is capable of yet and if he becomes just as good as Cassano we will be kicking ourselves after giving up Chiellini and loads of cash for a player we didn't even need. Pizarro could have come to Juventus for 6 million plus Miccoli or even Appiah yet we decided to pass him up and just strengthen the defensive midfield, again something we didn't need. Vieira is a great player and I'm glad we have him but he does not add that creativity and passing range we desperately need. Hell, we could have just forgot about Cassano and picked up Pizarro and Vieira....that would have been ideal and made a lot of sense. But now we are stuck with a midfield that doesn't have any creativity and no attacking options on the bench. Wonderful.
Agreed. Chievo never even mounted an honest attack throughout the whole match and I dont remember seeing Nedved or Camo having to do much defensively. This would have been the perfect match to field the 4-3-3 and take the game to Chievo, but yet again we just played at the same nonchalant pace and played boring football. The Juventus board was supposedly even asking Capello to play more attackingly this season....but oh no way, not against little Chievo.

First game of the season, and first 'Juve-win' of the season. We played well until 1-0, created loads of chances. Trezeguet was seriously on fire.
Then we did what we do best, we killed the game. 0 shots on goal, and only 1 or tops 2 situations that COULD turn out dangerous for Chievos side.

I haven't got the same feeling that I do when I see Gigi between the posts, of course, but I expected Abbiatti to show more authority the few times he was in action. Hopefully it'll get better.

My man of the match. Looked like a dad playing with his kids, when he took the ball of the Chievo attackers and never let them to a dangerous position with the ball.

On his way towards the shape he was in when voices where raised about him being the world's best left wing defender. But not there yet.

Went out there and picked up his salary. Nothing special, this time.

Showed his superiority man to man in close encounters. But that was pretty much it. Average.
Nedved 5.5
Not a game that shows why we all love Pavel Nedved, was it. But he wasn't completely bull, as some of you seem to think.
Ibrahimovic 5.5
Showed his worst side; the arrogant, selfcentred Ibra. As for the game, he seemed to be pretty horny on scoring a goal, and forgot about team play. But still, he had some good intentions, and a bad Ibra-game today is not a bad Ibra-game last season whereas he was completely useless when he was not in his prime at times.
Trezeguet 7
Gets a 7.5 for his first half, where he was on fire. Not only did he pull out classy shots from volleys or from his head, he also (for the first time in history...) showed some nice touches on the ball and great technical abilities.
Then we did what we do best, we killed the game. 0 shots on goal, and only 1 or tops 2 situations that COULD turn out dangerous for Chievos side.

I know where you're coming from Stu, but you also can't argue too much with the results (not that you are here).
If Juve start slipping on the Scudetto or choke early in the CL from his decisions, I'd think his days are definitely numbered given the other issues. Until then, it's all armchair coaching in front of the TV as long as he keeps winning with the team.

I guess it's Capello who is insisting Cassano is the missing part of Juve. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Zlatan - Cassano duo or Zlatan - Cassano - Trezeguet trio in every match no matter how poor the form would be.
This being said it's results that count in the end and I wouldn't mind him staying with the defensive formation as it has brought the scudetto. I'd just want him to cut out that favouring certain players over others without a proper reason.
