It is good you brought this issue up as I was discussing it with someone a few days back. We both agreed that Emerson last season became lazier in its second half and we both predicted more laziness with the arrival of Vieira. It is a bit controversial as his performance might be better with the help of a world class midfielder but at the same time, he might take advantage of the situation and decrease his work rate.

I am not sure why Emerson looks so sluggish, however after the injury last season against Pool he has not seemed very mobile on the pitch. He also came up limping in today's match, so perhaps that had some effect on his performance. There is no question Vieira will help our team and make everybody on the pitch look a little better, certainly if you compare him to Blasi. Emerson should no doubt be helped by the Frenchman, and hopefully they can improve their communication and play together rather quickly.

Another issue I'd like to point out and it is Zambrotta's forward runs. Last year with the presence of Emerson and a shaky midfielder, the defence cover was not quite the best and we all know how a responsible player Zambrotta is. I felt it many times last season that Gianluca used to think twice before going forward. I think with the Emerson-Vieira partnership there is a much better cover on the back line it will help Zambrotta go back to his old habits and we will see him more forward weather penetrating or crossing. This all depends on Nedved as well, but still it helps.

Not sure about that. It could also work another way....considering Vieira is a very capable player going forward, he might venture up in our attacks more frequently than, say, Blasi did last year. So Zambrotta might have to hold back sometimes because of the Vieira factor. We shall see throughout the season.

I actually felt Zambrotta played better, because of Nedved's felt presence. Though I also said, in my previous post, that his first touch was lacking. I'll give you that. I didn't count really THAT much lost possesion actually. Nedved wasn't extroardinary, but he was usefull and I liked his performance. I don't think he'll be as dissapointing the upcoming season as many predicted, myself included.

Well I was just so surprised at how many bad passes he made. The Nedved we are familiar with hits those same passes with ease, and looks very comfortable on the ball. As I said before hopefully he is just quite rusty.

Obviously Juve's problem is Nedved and Capello

They both suck in my opinion.. but Nedved's sucks a little more..

No doubt DP's not at his best form.. simply because of Capello..

My suggestion: Nedved go, Capello get the fvck out of here, any other coach would lead Juve better

Del Piero should have even come on instead of Zalayeta....I'm not buying this tactical excuse this time. We always had control of the match and Del Piero could have given us more control in attack, something we obviously needed with all our mis-hit passes.

But I must say Capello and Moggi are not making me happy with passing up Pizarro and seemingly giving away Mutu without even seeing what the guy can do yet. Fvcking stupid decisions as far as I'm concerned.

The tactical excuse that Capello used last season was bullshit most of the time. He doesn't like DP for whatever reason, that's been made quite obvious, whereas he absolutely loves Zlatan. Ibrahimovic is undoubtedly a better player than Del Piero at present but Cap is ridiculously biased in favour of the Swede.

I completely agree with your assessment about some of the moves the managerial staff have made. Pizarro would have been a superb acquisition as I've been saying for quite some time now and not even giving Mutu a chance is too stupid for words. Cassano is not a necessity for this team but Capello doesn't seem to want to give players like Del Piero, Chiellini or Mutu a chance, instead he continues to bring in players he has worked with in the past.

Another thing that I don't like about Capello is his insistance on playing so defensively. I've had to accept the fact that Cap is always going to have two holding midfielders in his first team (which I disagree with for the record) but I don't see why we can't be a bit more adventurous against teams like Chievo. We have the quality to beat them by three or four goals but instead of putting them on the back foot for the entirety of the game we score and relax in the second half. Personally I feel that attack can be the best form of defence at times and I would employ such a tactic against smaller sides. Sitting back and allowing teams to come at you is IMHO foolish.

As for the game, it seems we weren't as good as we could have been but that doesn't really matter right now. We're bound to improve as the season goes on, we just need to pick up the points in the meanwhile. Good to hear that Trez had a good game and the defence did well. Hopefully Neddy and Zlatan step up their game for round 2.

I don't know what Cap is playing at. He knows that DP isn't part of his plans. He should tell him that and let him leave. Instead of doing that he makes the club captain warm up for 40 friggin minutes and doesn't even bring him on. He did the same thing to him last season against Palermo.
