as posted in the Del Pie thread--

if he did perform so badly then why was he not subbed? i feel he was asked to sacrifice his play to creat space for others today, that said he still performed poorly, especially when he has set such high standards

but calling him a cancer and saying fuck him is disrespectful....i mean its not like he COST us goals today. Melo gave the ball away twice in the first half that almost cost goals and people were saying he was having a great game.....go figure that out
Nobody called him a cancer today afaik. His play is costing us fluidity in the attack and his decision making was poor. You know, I think he wasn't THAT bad today to be honest, he's normally around this nowadays, but I think he's trying too hard to prove he still has it and it's costing us in the attack.

first half he was fucking awful

second half he was very good

but is it not his job to protect the back 4? because they were over exposed time and again today
He wasn't "fucking awful" in the 1st half. He played the same in both halves except in the 1st he SLIPPED and that idiot Palombo had the ball ricochet off him and right on the foot of Pozzi. That's bad luck. Then he had ONE give away which was a true mental error after that.

He bossed the whole game. Do you guys understand how difficult it is to do what he does? He was killing people the whole game cleanly, winning the ball off everyone with lunges. It was unreal.

:D

On a serious note though, there's no reason to dislike this man. I actually like Storari but I think he should be our 3rd choice. Manninger looks more active and ready to jump cut off crosses and it feels safer with him on goal.

I don't want to leave the impression to members that I dislike or hate the man, I just see him as a 3rd choice. At least for a team like Juventus.
i disagree actually, Manninger is a great shot stopper, but i do not feel he instils confidence in his back 4 when crosses come in,in fact he looks awful at crosses a lot of the time. storari aint no buffon, but then again we could have snapped up Petr Cech and he would be no Buffon

Had Amauri been playing today, he would have scored at least three goals imo. The team was amazing in the second half and they threw alot of balls in the box. Krasic was our best player today and he is a Superstar. The team is not like last years team, as they look to have alot of "Spunk" this season. The defence was atrocious though and De Ceglie was at fault on the third goal (...with Bonucci and Motta as well, but mostly DC), as he looked very lazy in defending that cross.

I liked Del Piero as well as he showed touches of genius and Aquilani with just one touch, won me over.

We just need a real striker and a left back and this team can be really dangerous.

We deserved to win today and Im disappointed we didn't...

i was reading the half time opinions and everybody egreed he had more than 2 "brain farts" and seemed to think this was acceptable,Pepe was playing as well as he has ever played ina Juve shirt and was getting pelters

he gave the ball away 2-3 times
he picked up the ball and instead of releasing the pass ran aimlessly into midfield and slowed the play down 3-4 times
he was almost caught in possesion several times

but yeah, apart from that solid stuff

thank god he improved in the second half

he wasnt awful imo he had those 1 brain fart but it has a lot to do with playing for both him and marchi as the latter moonlights as a houdini, and the back 4 were exposed via the flanks on counters: not his job.

Absolutely nothing but rudimentary sideway passes (totally invisible), defenitely cant wait til Aquilani gets back for real. And rather play Momo so he can get in form enough to support this very bad defence (Melo cant cover much ground), they so fucking need it.
i suggested it a whole back, momo as a classic brazil style DM who would provide cover for FBs but do we have the time to wait for him to settle in

I cant be disheartened by this game too much, maybe because our awful defending is routine to me now? But I REALLY liked what I saw in the 2nd half, I cant blame anyone but the defence (I mean obviously, we lead the game twice), Del Neri even if the subs can be questionable, with taking out the two wingers who had Samp by the balls (excellent stuff, yes even Pepe), too bad we didnt have a proper prima punta while they were in. But did worked the flanks well, and obviously got tired. But I would have kept atleast one of them, preferly Krasic but he looked deadly tired at the end (fucking 2nd half he had, its what I'm used to of him, but VERY nice to see that kind of deadly turbo charging runs in Juve). But the tactic of 4-3-3 was bit stupid (scratch that, very stupid), CMs who cant attack or cross much are supposed to support the attack, just extremely meh compared to how we pounched them with our 4-4-2

And yeah this game was head and shoulders the worst I seen of Ale in quite a time, except decent chance with two dribbles in first half, he was extremely poor at receiving the ball. Being slow is not even the issue even if the tempo is quicker then him, but man, he failed badly at his strenght, is touch and technique, missed really basic receptions too often, like he is Iaquinta or something. The latter who btw will defenitely start next game now (unless Quagmire is injured).

If the defence wasnt that horrible, I would defenitely give him the worst grade, but even Chiellini was terrible, and Bonnucci off the mark alot, but worse of all is ofcourse Motta, 2 goals are basically his fault (De Ceglie let Semioli cross easily, but didnt lose position as much as Motta kept doing).

Btw, needs to be mentionned, really dissapointed in Storari on the 3 goals, he made top save on Pozzi, but really questionable in the goals.
Definitely spot on.. .

Lets just hope we keep on improving and dont drop points against Udinese, we need a win. We are lucky many of the top teams are still trying to find their feet.

I just wonder how much worse DC would have been had he had cassano on his flank. Motta was poor no denying but a tiny consulation for him is that he was facing the likes of cassano. Either way our fullbacks suck, big time. centrebacks wernt half impressive either, you just wonder if pazzo had been around trouble we could have had. But hey we have our first point :weee:

Juventus
Marco Storari
6.5
Made two good saves in one-on-one situations with Pozzi and Cassano. Got a hand to the second goal he conceded, but wasn't strong enough to keep it out.

Marco Motta Flop of the Match
4.5
A poor outing from the full-back, who had all kinds of trouble with Cassano and things got worse as he picked up an injury and had to be replaced.

Leonardo Bonucci
5.5
Average outing from the former Bari defender, who is still working on his relationship with Giorgio Chiellini.

Giorgio Chiellini
6.0
Tracked runs into the area well and made some very good challenges, but was left standing flat-footed on a few occasions.

Paolo De Ceglie
5.5
Did his defensive duties fairly efficiently, but once substitute Marilungo came in he was given fits by the youngster down his flank.

Milos Krasic
7.5
Man of the match for Juventus. His pace, passing, and dribbling were superb. Got one assist and started the move for the second goal.

Claudio Marchisio20
6.5
The midfielder is certainly more comfortable in a central role and scored a nice goal on the volley to equalise in the first-half.

Felipe Melo
7.0
The Brazilian was the main winner of the midfield battle for large portions on the contest. A couple lapses in concentration, but otherwise he did everything asked of him by Del Neri.

Simone Pepe
6.5
The winger was in and out of this thrilling contest, but did tap home a rebound and hit another shot off the post that led to their second goal.

Fabio Quagliarella
6.5
Tried that spectacular too often, but did react quickest to finish from close range.

Alessandro Del Piero
6.5
Showed flashes of what he is capable of and came close on a few set-pieces. Also involved in the build-up to their first goal.
