That win wasn't convincing in any single way. Without the brilliance of Del Piero, we would have lost the match without a doubt because we were once again a disaster at the back. The formation deployed did NOTHING to insure the victory and probably aided the frivolous nature in which we defended. The only moments in which we did look good was when we scored from open play, the Caceres cross to Amauri and the Del Piero finish. Amauri also had a couple nice layoffs. But apart from that, we were poor. Very poor.
The only problem we solved today was finishing off chances, which we did brilliantly, thanks to the strikers. But the defense and midfield was still quite poor, along with how we don't really know how to play the 3-4-1-2, which isn't surprising. The defense gave up TONS of free headers in the box that would have been converted by a Floccari or Crespo, so Genoa squandered a ridiculous amount of opportunities. The back three was stretched several times and the supposed wingbacks were not always back to provide cover. And then through the midfield, we lacked what we always do in ideas and creativity.
So nothing has really changed. Once again we rely on Del Piero to secure results during poor performances, something that will dry up as his age wears on. If Alex goes missing next time around we will find ourselves struggling to achieve even a point, let alone have notions of "convincing wins."
This silly formation will come back to haunt us in the future because the players we have do not fit the system and they are not really adept at playing in it. This win could very well be another Napoli-like performance, with the next match resulting in disaster.
Buffon - 5 - One of his worst matches he's had, just because of the error.
Zebina - 5.5 - Not convincing as a central right sider.
Legrottaglie - 5.5 - Typical poorness.
Chiellini - 5 - Uncharacteristic mistakes, poor marking, somewhat at fault for the first goal.
Caceres - 6 - Got stuck in, put in a nice cross finally, but he's not a wingback.
Sissoko - 6.5 - As usual he put in good work defensively, and at least he didn't give the ball away as much as usual.
Candreva - 5.5 - Did very little out there in my view.
De Ceglie - 5.5 - Average stuff on the wing, still doesn't appear to have a role or know what exactly he's doing as a wingback.
Diego - 6 - Found some space and tried to make himself available, but I've seen better.
Amauri - 7 - One of his best matches this season. Great layoffs and good goal.
Del Piero - 7.5 - Very quiet in the first half, but saved us with a couple maneuvers in the second.

Yes we got a win, a MUCH MUCH needed win. And hopefully now this will put this negative run to a much overdue end, but we wont be where we all want to be playing like this in this way. The 3-4-1-2 needs to be binned, infact everything beggining with a 3 needs to be binned. These defenders have ALWAYS played in a 4 man defence, they are used to it, and have proved it to be a success in the past, it should not be changed.
And also we wont improve our creativity and goal threat if we keep using De Ceglie on the left when we have Gio sitting on the bench. I hope Zaccheronni isn't blinded by one win. We've recovered some form of confidence back now, so lets push on from here and build on it. Not leave ourselves vulenerable for more of the same.
yea, it wasn't convincing.. we played like a team which is struggling and the effort put in to score the goals was superb.. but what else do you guys expect? we need to re-learn how to walk before we can start running again.. I'm no fan of Sack or this formation but I am a fan of Juventus and even though we played poorly, we won and we scored.. Ale / Diego / Amauri / and Caceres' moral has to be shooting up right now and once they can get back to their proper mindset we will be on the road to a top 3 finish..
with Camo and Gio back all they need to do is gain fitness and soon Iaq and Trez will be here for that final stretch and ensure us those wins we are going to need.. If anybody was expecting an over night transformation then you should stay away from following Juve for at least another month.. we needed to hold on to the lead for less than 20 min and bringing on Gio who isn't at full fitness and is an attacker wouldn't exactly make sense.. the win was a morale booster for the whole squad and Sack obviously didn't want to lose that and rather hold on to win and gain that confidence that we were lacking..hopefully that's what we need before our Ajax clash..

This game was the maximum performance possible after the string of defeats we had in the past 15 or 16 games. Anyone who expected anything more was just simply dreaming. I am satisfied with the performance, but I do want the team to improve from this point on.
Notes:
1- We need to improve defensively. I don't mind 3 men defense if the players and coach know how to deploy themselves.
2- We kept the ball 90% of the time on the ground. And out passing accuracy was the highest in the last 15 games.
3- The second half we did something extra than the first half, and that was playing simple football. In the first half Diego and a few other players were trying difficult passes and backheels that did not go anymore. In the second half it was all simple.
4- Yes, the penalty kick was controversial. But when you keep the pressure up front and try to create more mistakes do happen whether from the defenders or even the ref.
5- We are in a deep shit hole, and we need player like Del Piero to lead us out of this dark tunnel. I won't complain about us relying on Del Piero at the moment. Lets return back to our normal game and then we'll talk.
6- Amauri proved the theory of "I cannot score if you don't give me service". The cross he got from caceras was maybe the most straight forward play he had received in the past 10-15 games.
7- It is very clear that De Cegli should start ahead of Grosso from now on.
8- In our current formation the rotation of Giovinco/Del Piero/Diego should be performed. We are playing 3-4-1-2 which is more or less 3-4-3. Two of the three can be fielded along with one of Amauri/Trezeguet/Iaquinta/Paolucci.
9- I lived how the team was at ease switching from 3-4-3 to 4-4-2 at the end of the game.
