Elia shouldn't start, he hasn't fully adapted to serie a. Basic 4-4-2 would be good with krasic and pepe on the wings with Vidal as a DM. not that I think marchi would have a bad game in this one but he's too inconsistent.

Huge game. Need optimal performances from everyone, even a weakened Milan can still cause us many problems.

Switch back to 4-4-2, start Krasic and Pepe on the wings. Vidal and Pirlo in the middle. Drop Grosso and bring back De Ceglie. Matri and Ale/Vucinic to start.

I would have Matri and Vucinic start, Pepe on the wing with Krasic. Get Elia on later when the game is open if we need a goal.

:agree:

I wonder if Pepe seemed good because everyone was so tired by the time he came on. Still, I guess I wouldn't mind him starting since Elia looks still fresh.

Buffon
Licht-Barza-Chiellini-DC
Krasic-Vidal-Pirlo-Pepe
Vucinic-Del Piero

Our midfield decision is a tough choice, but I think I'd lean towards Vidal because of intensity and tackling. He should be given the same role that Marchisio had vs Parma.

Vucinic's partner is not an easy choice either, but I think DP deserves a start. Matri and Vucinic never really looked that good together and DP-Vucinic has always looked dangerous despite not having a real striker on. Quagliarella should come on at around 60' to get some more playing time to increase match fitness and gradually increase his playing time so he knows what he's doing.

If we weren't playing Milan I'd drop Chiellini for Bonucci but I have a feeling he will show up big time in this game, especially since Ibra will be playing :D

De Ceglie is probably our best option for LB in this game, using Vidal or Chiellini at LB in this game would be a waste.

Pepe definitely played his best game ever for us and more than deserves a start over Elia. Pepe offered 10x more than what Elia offered though Elia should come on as a sub.

I'm not so keen on De Ceglie. I think apart from the Parma game in which everyone played well, De Ceglie has been hugely problematic especially defending. Grosso is crap but I trust him more under pressure in our defensive half. Its important that Chiellini gets back on form immediately to play against Ibra.

Matri might have had a poor game but that's because he's no lone striker. I don't expect him to miss easy opportunities when he gets them like many of our player did against Catania and I think have that target man is essential for balance in our team. Not all our possession will be neat ground passing against Milan especially if they mark us like Catania did in that first half. Pirlo will have to move around and draw markers out of space in which case I see some of our not so good passers possessing it and taking the long ball option. Matri is important for those kinds of scenarios and besides he is mobile for his size and provides dangerous runs when Pirlo does have it.

Krasic should without doubt play over Giacherini. Good second half from him just needs some game time to get his touch back. We need to be patient and not pretend like its the end of the world and bring up his january transfer every time he fumbles the ball.

Vidal should play. He had a mostly scrappy match against Catania but he at least took the game on and made himself available out there, using his physicality to keep the ball in our possession. That's all I wanted to see from Marchisio, just some initiative. He also needs game time to get his touch and fitness up there.

Buffon

Licht--Barza--Chiello--Grosso

Krasic--Vidal--Pirlo--Pepe

Vucinic--Matri
