Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli insists he has no regrets at letting Zlatan Ibrahimovic go because he didn't click with Alex Del Piero.
The pair were with the Bianconeri between 2004 and 2006 before Ibra left for Inter in the aftermath of the Calciopoli scandal.
Now, Juve are preparing to play against Ibrahimovic, who is on magnificent form, but Cobolli Gigli has no regrets.
“Del Piero and Ibrahimovic were an impossible couple,” he said on La Politica nel Pallone.
“It was really hard for the two to play together, even if they both gave their best.
“I ask myself whether we would have had the same great Del Piero with Ibrahimovic and I just remember that he has had a second youth since Amauri arrived.
“Del Piero is now more agile than he has been in the past and has become a bigger man after his marriage and the birth of his son.
“Alex is a champion on all fronts. He is 34-years-old and many retire at that age, but he is still hungry and I am convinced that he will be back in the national side soon.”
Cobolli Gigli then returned to discussing the departure of Ibrahimovic in 2006.
“Ibra quit Juventus, not the other way around,” he stressed.
“Jean-Claude Blanc tried to negotiate with him to stay, but he wanted to leave and there are no hard feelings.”
