As awesome as Vuci was, Buffon gets my vote because Mirko's goal was a PK drawn by Asa, and his second assist was a very fortunate deflection. That save right before Giacchy's goal was just so crucial...

Forza SuperGigi, making himself BIG as always.

I agree Buffon kept Juve in the game. If it was anyone else in goal (well maybe Zoff too in his day) tack up a loss or tie for JUve

Think I haven't yet graced the forum with my truly objective ratings this season, so here goes:

Buffon 6,5 - There were some necessary saves, no doubt, but there were also some shaky, rather unconvincing moments.
Barzagli 6 - Decent, the best of an underwhelming back three. Troubled quite regularly though.
Bonucci 5 - Not terrible throughout (some brilliant interceptions, even), but far too many mistakes. Overconfidence imo.
Chiellini 5,5 - Shaky.
Caceres 6 - Just about decent enough.
De Ceglie 6 - Mostly ok.
Marchisio 6,5 - Overall pretty good, but a few uncharacteristic mistakes. Had to take care of a lot of work.
Pirlo 6 -Really poor at times. The usual at other moments.
Giaccherini 7 - A fairly ok game. A fairly important & well taken goal.
Giovinco 7 - Thought he did quite well. Created enough danger.
Matri 5,5 - Should have scored.

Asamoah 7 - Took a few moments to make an impact, but delivered.
Vucinic 8,5 - Immediate impact. Impressive outing.
Lichtsteiner 6,5 - An improvement over Caceres.

Odd game. Not much of a gameplan from our side, almost clueless for big parts of the game. Compliments to Genoa though, they really took the game to us & almost succeded.
But it sure feels good to know that we can win games like these.

Our defense was shaky throughout the match. Buffon and Bonucci saved or asses with crucial saves. The midfield clearly missed the presence of a ball winner. I really hope we sell Matri in January, and play Quags instead of him until then. That miss was shocking, but not surprising if you realized that Matri is of form and devoid of confidence.

Overall, I hope the comeback helped in developing the mentality of some of the players and wet carry on with it throughout the season.

Bring on Chelsea!

Interesting that you rated Barzagli the best of the back three.

I thought he was awful and that it was probably his worst game for Juve.

Was that our 43rd unbeaten game?
42 in Serie A

It was a critical character-building match. We could have easily lost this match as Genoa had a couple of chances to almost put the 3 points out of reach.

How many crosses yesterday we bad crosses?

We really need to work on that.

Isla anyone?
Yeah. Worst was that our best crosses were blind -- where there was no one in the box to receive it. The rest were Molinaro-worthy.

Interesting that you rated Barzagli the best of the back three.

I think I might be able to say that was the worst match I've ever seen Barzagli play in Juve stripes.

It is frustrating, because this was one of the things people argued in favor of having Matri with better service. He really isn't getting it in terms of service from the wings. It took bringing in Mirko/Asa to improve it. I really don't get why its so hard to put in a decent cross.

In regards to the poor crossing, we rarely had more than one man to aim at in the box so there was a low probability in the majority of these crosses leading to a chance, especially when you factor in that Caceres is not a natural right back and crossing is certainly not a strength in his game, but Paolo put a few decent daisy cutters across the box.

We have been shoddy at defending set pieces for a while now and this certainly needs addressing.

Yeah, I can see how it's debatable. And he was troubled quite often, which is unusual in itself.

But I do feel that he was the only one back there who, essentially, kept his cool & managed to do more good than bad.

I thought Chiellini and Bonucci impoved as the game went on, while Barzagli consistently struggled.

A lot of the headers Genoa were winning in the box were also against Barzagli (Borriello off the bar and the on at the back post that clipped the outside of the post).

He wasn't getting tight and making life hard for his man, nor was he being aggressive and trying to win the high balls himself.

Looked like he was wearing lead boots for most of the game.

None of the back three would have got anything like a positive rating from me.

Think I haven't yet graced the forum with my truly objective ratings this season, so here goes:

Buffon 8 - Kept us in the game during our darkest houre. Allowed subs to turn "only" a 1-0 deficit
Barzagli 3 - worst game in juventus jersey. lost duels, wrong positionning, terrible heading, dramatic set pieces. and i refuse to rate his passing
Bonucci 4 - Below decent on the ground, terrible in the air. missed beeing bossed around by barzagli.
Chiellini 5.5 - Started as bad as the other defenders, improved alot in the second half
Caceres 6 - Just about decent enough.
De Ceglie 6 - Mostly ok.
Marchisio 6,5 - Overall pretty good, but a few uncharacteristic mistakes. Had to take care of a lot of work.
Pirlo 6 -Really poor at times. The usual at other moments. missed a few easy passes
Giaccherini 7 - Defensively far to lightweight to sub vidal, made us lose alot in midfield. however, in possession far the best juve midfielder before subs. very good long shots and well taken goal
Giovinco 7 - Thought he did quite well despite having a terrible feed of to high passes. Created enough danger when got played into foot or space properly. unluky to hit the post. ran out of steam around the houre, but immediatly showed how well he plays with vucinic and asamoah around
Matri 4,5 - Worked hard, but his finishing was a drama. and thats supposedly his main task

Asamoah 7 - Took a few moments to make an impact, but delivered.
Vucinic 8 - Immediate impact. Impressive outing.
Lichtsteiner 6,5 - An improvement over Caceres.

Players mentally in londen at the first half, improved in the second. vidal, asamoah, vucinic and lichtsteiner cannot be subbeb all at once, team loses its ability to execute our trademark playstyle
fixed imo
