... I think we are showing too much faith in Mbangula and Weah. They had positive showings in the first 2 games but they lack quality and shouldn't be relied on to turn games around.
it wasn't about the players themselves. besides vlahovic's sitter (which he conveniently missed lol), we didn't have the chances to score even with yildiz and nico on the flanks

possession is all right, defense works reliably enough for the most part of our games, but the attacks lack ideas. this is a fresh squad with zero chemistry yet. we need time and a lot of work to make it click

remember when with conte we played one game with pazienza instead of pirlo, and we barely noticed anything, because it was a well drilled team? we're very far from that. at least the defense is working already for the majority of the games, that's a good sign

Yep.

I somehow knew we weren’t winning after I saw that series of subs. Looked like Motta had run out of ideas as much as the players on the field. The subs all looked worse than who we had taken off.
I had a bad feeling after first 20 minutes. It seemed obvious we arent going anywhere. No ideas upfront. Yildiz had some decent moves and several through balls but he is better in the middle, Nico disatrous 1st half. Had a great through ball for Dusan in the 2nd though but overall poor game. Subs even ruined our game. Fagiolli was awful. Thuram clumsy, Mbagula is not Juve level or what we are aspiring to be. Weah as well. I stopped smoking after last season ended but I ll buy a pack now ffs.

I think we will have trouble creating in wings all season, if we insist on having fullbacks who never overlap and create few seconds of hesitation or space for the winger in his 1v1.

One fullback is a central midfielder drifting around like a Fantasista, and other fullback becomes a CB.

It makes us look predictable wide, they press our wingers before they turn or double them. Because they see they are isolated.

Motta instructs Luiz to go left (or be AM/SS just behind Vlaho), to compensate for Cambiaso drifting. But Luiz isn't there to make runs or overlap, just another option to short pass side ways or back. Our wing play needs more help and directness for sure.

That's an odd question to ask when the other players amounting to 160M did absolutely nothing today as well.
luiz was played in a weird position, koopmeiners wasn't that bad, nico created the only sitter of the game

weah was terrible. he played a good game and he prolly thought he's the new robben. he's got the speed but unfortunately nothing else consistently

I only watched the first 55 minutes. It didn’t look great, but I’m not too worried. I believe four players were starting for the first time, and most of the newcomers still haven’t had enough time to play or train together. It’ll get much better with time.

However, Vlahovic has to step up. Taking those kinds of chances in matches like this is exactly what a top striker should be doing and how titles are won.

So who wants to tell me about the game I missed?
We started a bunch of newcomers that didn't do too well.
Both Douglas and Koop were disappointing.
Dusan missed great goal opportunities as usual.
Empoli pressed high and forced us to pass sideways for the best part of the 90 minutes.
Yildiz shouldn't play as winger anymore.

Basically what we already knew, it will take time.
