They want to have a keeper that can play with feet but Perin today played hoofed longball punts to Vlahović around 15 times. Dušan can’t do hold up play and has a weak first-touch

Like they were a Sam Allardyce Bolton team from 2003 or a Tony Pulis Stoke team from 2007 lmao

from your couch+popcorn perspective, I can see why you may think the GK is at fault for punting the ball long so many times, which I hope don’t.

first off, having a technically capable GK is just 30% of the equation for playing out from the back. You need defenders and midfielders who are comfortable
- comfortable to receive ball under pressure with back to goal
- able to make runs and open up multiple options, forcing opponents miss out on losing a man to mark, which the GK then pass to.

watching yesterday games, (not pointing fingers) but whenever Perin has the ball, the body language of our defense is saying that they do not want the ball. It’s almost as if our defenders are more comfortable without the ball than with the ball. We could have Ederson and it still would not have made a difference.

these days, if a GK makes a long pass, couch pussies will say they should have played short. If GK plays short, but old school defenders can’t play it out of danger and lose the ball, couch pussies will say that the GK overcomplicated the play.

remember, there is only one Pep with tons of budget to make it possible to ‘play out from the back’ consistently. But these days, even grassroots dogshit thinks that their team can do it, as long as their goalkeeper is comfortable on the ball, while their defenders are made up of retirees who is one sharp turn away from coffin.

I only watched the first 55 minutes. It didn’t look great, but I’m not too worried. I believe four players were starting for the first time, and most of the newcomers still haven’t had enough time to play or train together. It’ll get much better with time.

However, Vlahovic has to step up. Taking those kinds of chances in matches like this is exactly what a top striker should be doing and how titles are won.
This

What frustrated me more with Vlahovic was the amount of passes and touches that were just completely off. He was always very weak as well in his one on ones.

Motta did say he needs to be served deep though and more vertically which I agree with.

We started a bunch of newcomers that didn't do too well.
Both Douglas and Koop were disappointing.
Dusan missed great goal opportunities as usual.
Empoli pressed high and forced us to pass sideways for the best part of the 90 minutes.
Yildiz shouldn't play as winger anymore.

Basically what we already knew, it will take time.
And even with time it might not work, right?

Look on a bright side that we have still yet to concede after four games! Attacks win you games, but defense win you titles! That’s something that Juve has always taken for granted when BBC was here.

Our players seem like they actually ENJOY stopping attacks and ruining opponents play, instead of thinking ‘fuck defending, I am just here to score YouTube goals’ like all the weekend dipshit grassroots Sunday players
