BACKGROUND:
Juventus pay a visit to the Bentigodi stadium on Sunday night for a fixture they usually do well in.
Chievo are a big question mark this season following the departure of some players who formed the backbone of these last two seasons' successful Serie A campaigns. This home match against Juventus might not necessarily indicate Chievo's definite future for this season, however it will prove an important test to know if they can still be up there with the big name teams.
Juventus come from an impressive 5-1 home victory over Empoli in the first match day of the season and much is expected from Lippi's team this year. Playing away to Chievo is never an easy feat for any team, however results in these past two seasons have always smiled for the Old Lady when they played the Flying Donkeys.
The bianconeri prefer playing teams that play open football like Chievo, rather than teams who defend in block to secure at least one point. The openings Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved may find will be important for the outcome of the match.
LATEST TEAM NEWS:
Chievo: Del Neri should be able to field the team that drew away to Brescia in the first match day of the season, with Perrotta and Baronio dictating the midfield and Sculli and Cossato trying to force their way through the black and white shirts.
Juventus: Miccoli will not be part of the match following his appendix operation, while Tudor and Pessotto are still not 100% fit. Lippi's biggest worry might be the condition of his international players, some of which played two games in four days and might not be at their best for Sunday's showdown.
PROBABLE LINE-UPS:
Chievo (4-4-2): Marcheggiani; Lanna, Barzagli, Sala, Moro; Franceschini, Perrotta, Baronio, Santana; Sculli, Cossato
Juventus (4-3-1-2): Buffon; Zambrotta, Montero, Legrottaglie, Thuram; Tacchinardi, Appiah, Camoranesi; Nedved; Del Piero, Trezeguet
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Giuseppe Sculli (Chievo): The young Chievo striker who is actually on loan from Juventus will definitely try to prove to Moggi and company that he will be worth bringing back next year.
Nicola Legrottaglie (Juventus): After two really good seasons with Chievo, he finally made the jump to a big team. This will be the first meeting against his former club and emotions might be high for the Italian international.
