Del Piero's form plays huge part in the recent results, but I see improvements (somewhere bigger, somewhere only slight improvements) in almost every aspect of our game.

Probably more of a coincidence than anything else. It's so easy to blame Ferrara for every little thing that occurred when for Alex he probably just needed more time to regain fitness.

That's right, and for the most part, there hasn't been much a of difference anyway. We still play poorly and don't look inspiring at all.

Del Piero barely played under Ciro, and just before Ciro was sacked, he was only returning from his injury, and was clearly rusty.

All I'm saying is that since Ciro left, plenty of things had changed apart from the new manager, that did influence our recent performances, and no one can tell at the moment how important which was.

Del Piero played quite a few games under ciro, and he didnt shine. I'm not saying the manager is the only reson for the turn around in form, no. Ciro was DP's good friend so obviously he would try his best for him. But you have to look at the bigger picture. Since Zac has come in, DP has played better, and thats not just a coincidence. Zac has changes something that has allowed DP to regain his old form, whether thats the tactics, or the mental aspect of the game I couldn't tell you, but Zac must be given some credit for DP's form.

I don't agree we look more organized. Just look at how the wing players have played, and also how our defense has looked since Zach took charge. It's still a huge clusterfuck, possibly even worse on the flanks.

Not sure how we look "calm" scrambling in front of our goal and on the wings all the time.

I dont even think theres a debate to be had that we look more organised, i thought that was pretty clear for everyone to see. We play in waves now, the midfield come back to defend when we are under pressure and we close down opponents with structure. We dont have 3 players running towards the ball and leaving gaping holes all over the park.

With regards to the defence, if you are talking about our 3 man back line then you are spot on. That formation was hideous, and the players had no idea how to play it, we were lucky when we used that. Players like Zebina shouldn't even have a shirt. But when we've moved back to the 4 man d we look more solid and def more organised, theres still a long way to go, but under Ferrara these defenders were clueless,we'd be lucky to only concede 1 goal in a game before.

And of course we look calmer. Under Ferrara if we ever took the lead we'd concede in the next 4 minutes. The players were hugely nervous and it effected their play. Look at the games against roma, bayern, milan, bordeaux (i can go on and on) and you would literally see our defenders panicing whenever the ball came anywhere near them. In the last 5 games the players have been much calmer, we've reacted when we concede and when we score we look nowhere near as nervous. Yes we're scrambling around in the last 10 minutes, but I remember we ALWAYS used to do that even when we were successful. At least we can close a result out now

a win is a win, eventhough it was a really hard win with some luck to be honest but i like the way we act as a team. this is the type of performance tha we are best at and am pretty sure that most of you disagree with me but whenever we start playing Catenaccio we surely get the point. look at the history of Juve and you can see that we maybe the best team in the world when it comes to implementing Catenaccio.

back to the game my main concern is that our point of weakness comes always from the left when DC is as he is just awful in covering. am not saying that Grosso is any better both sucks to be honest but this is a matter that Zac has to address before the Ajax game. nice to see our fitness level is increaseing and for the second game in a row i vote for Melo as MOM, very calm and doing his job and keeping it simple. on the other hand, two players who are having a remarkable drop in form are sissoko and marchisio.
nice to see camo again and Canderiva even if he wasted a third but its ok as long as we won.

Not sure what you're seeing there because today and on Thursday there were still holes in the defense, even when we switched to four at the back. Bologna had a couple chances they should have converted because of poor marking and overall organization.

Take a look at the holes we have had on the flanks these past two matches. Our opponents have raped us regardless of the formation we used. The difference is that our opponents have not finished their chances recently as opposed to earlier in the year, which I guess Zach deserves credit for just because it happened under his watch.

I don't really agree. Our defenders were panicking against Ajax just like they were in the Ferrara matches you've highlighted. In my opinion, you're mixing up the results with the actual performances which, in reality, is probably something folks got used to.

There are so many thing that could have made us look more "organized", I mentioned them earlier: picking up points, injured players coming back, the boost after changing a coach (hell, Lazio beat Inter in the Supercoppa thanks to having a new coach, and look where they are now). The worrying thing is, even after having a new coach, having the injured players back, we still concede a lot of chances. It happened with Lazio, Livorno, Genoa, Ajax, and Bologna. While our offensive improvement can be explained by things other than coaching, our defensive stagnation lies solely on the Zac's shoulders.

DC hardly went forward after the shoulder pain. It seemed like the right time somehow to change to a 4 man defence.

I think it's an offensive LB, defensive RB combination. De Ceglie runs up and down the left flank, while Grygera is basically a right sided CB with the occasional run forward, with Sali helping to attack on the right.
