Good game, only criticisms would be that we gave the ball away cheaply at times and probably should have scored more.

I was worried when I saw the line-up but just shows that you don't always need defensive players to keep a clean sheet. Having technical guys like Pjanic, Cuadrado and Dybala can keep the ball better when under pressure and that helps the defense.

.
Agree, real Madrid were doing so good with a similar formation and without a destroyer until they got found out and then brought in casemiro to line up later in the season. It will go so far this formation but for now it's refreshing. We just need to make sure we stop losing them balls as often and as you say the hybrid formation works pretty well.

Agreed but Cuadrado is useful in this setup because he's heavily involved in defending, provides width on the right side and he's good at moving the game from one box to another. Useful on counters as well.

Frustrating in terms of productivity but IMO he's born to play RM in 442/4231 so he'll come handy. He had a good start and then faded off for no particular reason.
Oh I'm glad he started, and he makes the team better with kind of attacking impetus we need and works hard. But he is such a flawed player, he had that excellent cross, and moves well in counter, but his decision making and footballing IQ will never change.

There was a good break where he had Dybala and Licht to pass to, but instead he dribbles himself into corner inside box, then dribbles back all the way to our defence. It's like he forgets making a pass and combining with others is quicker then dribbling too often, needs to know when to let go the ball and what to do with it.

It's fantastic he is so good at dribbling, rarely loses possession and often gets freekicks where others would lost it, but I wouldn't call his performance great when he has so many frustrating decision making in games, he is like a little kid playing footie at times.

Yes i'm worried this formation has an expiry date, that will come sooner rather than later.

Great result, how was the match? How did we play? I loved the goals we scored, very nice taken.
First half an hour really good and then it died down. Second half lazio started off well and then we just controlled the game with the odd chance here and there. Not as impressive as some may say but an improvement to say the least.

Yep, not sure it will ever be our to go formation, but sounds like we will see it more often imo.

Can this system become the permanent approach for Juventus going forward?

“It’s one of the options, certainly. Everyone was involved and played a great game as a team. This side has the technical quality to challenge anyone and we need to use all of that to succeed in Europe
CL formation maybe :boh:

IMO we played great, like a proper European giant is supposed to. We could score more because Dybala missed two very good chances. Pjaca had two decent chances and I think he deserved to be given a pen.

I disagree. We slowed down a bit here and there but overall we dominated Lazio for the whole game. 57% possession, 90% pass accuracy and 2-0 was the lowest score we could do. We played very nice football at times. Sure, it's not all working perfectly yet but we have the room for improvement for sure. Lazio is doing very good this season, 4th in the table.

The most important thing is that we can now actually use players that weren't used too much this season, like Cuadrado and Pjaca. It's refreshing to see players doing what they do best, instead of forcing players into roles they can't do.

The new system requires a lot of polishing and Max has to keep the players fired up and suddenly our weak and bleak team looks like a top one once again :xfinger:

We played good, but some people overreact here imo. Killed the game with two early goals and Lazio just rolled over. Overall better performance than last couple of games, but Lazio did not have a fire that Fio had. And we all know that there is no club in Seria A that can outplay this team, but there are at least 4 of them who was able to outhustle, put pressure and ran into the ground.

With this formation we don't need Chiellini to start attacks so I would play Rugani and tell him to make the easy pass. I also think Alves would look more comfortable with this formation.
If you need Chellini to start attacks, then that is a first sign you have a flawed formation.

Now let's see how that works out for Milan, when we play with Cuadrado, Dybala, Higgy and Mandzu up front to counter attack them.

Cuardrado is 28 year old. Been playing in small-decent clubs (been playing and learning with mediocore players/coaches) until Chelsea and Juventus came calling. By then, his bad habits has already been embedded deeply. Will be difficult to change but never say never.

Sturaro is 23 year old. Already in Juventus. Will be easier to wash away bad habits and learn good ones (such as decision making.) Doubting him is like doubting our coaches and fellow players.

Go ahead and ask the top managers if decision making can be learned. They will say YES, with practice and hard work and time.
So if you do not believe in those mental strength, maybe you should support inter?

Happy New Year heheheh

Let's not get carried away here...

Lazio was utterly sterile most of the match. Let's see how we deal with someone who hits back and try to pressure us on our half.

I think today's result has more to do with determination than different formation.
Thing is when you have 4 attacking players out there who can hurt you at any moment the opponent won't dare to commit many players forward, pressing and pinning us in our half.

It certainly plays a part, not to forget that lazio spent whole week preparing for a formation that just didn't turn up. I guess you could argue though it took them a while to adjust.

I see your point. But I'm still left wondering whether everybody playing with grinta didn't play the bigger part today. Also I don't think the formation was the reason we played a fluid fast quick passing game. The mentality was what was completely different. Nobody was holding on to the ball for more than a few seconds, the players certainly had specific instructions to do that. Having said that all props to Euromaxx for trying something so drastically unlike him.

this  allegri basically left himself out today, letting his inner berlusconi lead the way. it turned out great as pjanic had his best match in juve jersey without any muscle man support, and all of our 4 attacking players were involved in our 2 goals.
